Oh, ye be wanting a hint, do ye?
Blimey, that poop deck makes it clear as bilge water, aye? It's International Talk Like A Pirate Day, a'course!
Now, how many doubloons am I offered for this winsome wench? Ye did ask for the redhead, did ye not?
Nay?
What else could ye be wanting, ye scurvy dogs? P'raps...some scurvy dogs?
Allison F., Mandy R., Alana F., Suzanne B., & Laura G., I've never been to Boston in the fall. How 'bout you?

I didn't start laughing out loud until I got to the Veggie Tales reference. That, however, made my day.
- Gwendolyn
Why is the Eye of Sauron on a boat? I didn't realize that guy was down with T-Pain.
I love the dead pirate Scotties....too cute!
OMG! That CCC (patooie!) pirate is THE WORST thing I have ever seen! I'm completely speechless on that one. These arrrrrr some truly wrecky wrecks!
Extra cool points for the Veggietales reference! :)
*goes off singing "We are the Pirates Who Don't Do Anything..."*
Tooooo funny! Loved the Veggie Tales reference! I wonder if you've seen the latest pirate movie? Probably not, because it's rated Arrrrrrr!
The man o' war looks more like the Eye of Sauron from Lord of the Rings to me - badly done, sure, but still...
I never hoist the mainstay and I
never swab the poop deck, and I never veer to starboard 'cuz I never
sail at all, and I've never walked the gang plank and I've never owned a
parrot, and- as you guessed- I've never been to Boston in the fall.
the whole thing was pretty funny, but I agree, the funniest part was the veggietales!
lol, im with gwendolyn, the veggie tales refrence took the cake. :p
Is #4 meant to be a ship...or the Eye of Sauron?
I also LOVE the Veggie Tales/Relient K reference! Oh thank you thank you for this post. I love it.
I mean, "Yarr, 'tis fair post if I ever saw one. Aye, 't warms me heart to see such a thing."
Is that Sauron on that ship???
Veggie Tales!!!
oh that last one, just brought down the house! (or should i say ship!)
Okay, I actually made a cake just like that last one and it cracked just like that and we tried to use skewers to hold it together just like they did!
Arrghh!! Those cakes aren't fit for the bilge rats!
I too blogged about Talk Like a Pirate Day!

Hahaha, amazing! I'm just surprised you don't have any Pirates of the Caribbean wrecks.
Could you imagine how badly they could screw up Davy Jones? Oy oy.
A VEGGIETALES REFERENCE!!!! I LOVE YOU, JEN!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!! All together now, Barbra Manateeeee.....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPJ1TfQpsQ8
methinks it be difficult to walk once a swabbie has been keelhauled.
Ok I'm not the only one that saw a badly made Tower of Baradur.
Yar! Tis hilarity beyond the 7 seas!
You're the one for me, one for me...
But my all time favorite,
"Keeeep walking, but shoo wone knock down our wall.
Keeep walking, but she eesent gonna fall.
Eeees plain to SEEEE (I see!) you brains are very small, to sink walking, will be knocking down our wall."

Dread Pirate Scotties for the win!
I have to repeat others and say that the best part was the VeggieTales reference! but, oh, the pirate scotties are close behind!!
First thing I thought of the CCC was Pippi Longstocking with only one pigtail!!! Glad I wasn't the only one that saw EoS in 4.
Now I have the that blasted Lazytown song stuck in my head...
Being a pirate is alright to be,
Do what you want ‘cause a pirate is free,
You are a pirate!
Apparently I'm not the only one who sees the Eye of Sauron. Thought I was just really weird there for a second.
hahaha the dred pirate scotty! good one
I had no idea that was today. I just spent all morning searching for a pirate costume for my niece too.
Jen (yeah, I like to pretend we're on a first-name-basis!), I didn't think I could love/respect you anymore than I already do until today.
1) You're celebrating talk like a pirate day.
2) You made a veggie tales joke.
You're the best!
BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Your posts are always funny, but this one - if I may be permitted the pun - takes the cake! Love the pirateyness.
That CCC(BLAAARGH!!!!) pirate ship makes it look like Sauron is taking up pirating as a hobby! RRRRRRRGH!!!! It's staring into my soul!!!!
When will those scurvy dogs learn that CCC(BLAAARGH!!!!) never make anything worth putting out in the officer's mess?
Dread Scotties! I love it! That made me laugh so hard! :)
Well, I've never plucked a rooster, and I'm not too good at
ping-pong, and I've never thrown my mashed potatoes up against the wall,
and I've never kissed a chipmunk and I've never gotten head lice, and
I've never been to Boston in the fall! argh!
Probably my favorite post ever, matey.
I don't know anything about a VeggieTales reference but I definitely appreciated the Pirates of the Caribbean ride reference! :D
As someone who can truthfully say that I am descended from The Dread Pirate Henry Morgan (businessman-turned-evil), I can honestly say that these arrrrrgh amazingly bad!
To Err is Human, to Arr is pirate, and to ' ' is ninja!!
and yay for VeggieTales!!!
Ahoy me hearties, a warnin' t' ye. Keep watch o' yer beauties and sprogs. Beware rogue landlubbers and scoundrels suffering the effects o' drink n' decoratin' sweets. They'll send shivers down yer spine. Jen'll be tippin' t' grog but keepin' a wary eye on ya, ye scurvy dogs, her razor wit and cutlass at her side.
William Penn and his family were Pennsylvania pioneers, but it's a little known fact that his female relatives were great bakers. However, jealous rivals accused them of charging too much for pastries. It was a hot topic of conversation:
The Pie Rates of Penn's Aunts.
Karen, who will shut up now!
Lets not judge the makers of the last cake too harshly, I made the exact same one for my nephew's birthday. It turned out great and I was so proud of it. Cleaned up the kitchen and went to bed. Woke up in the morning to a ship wreck. I tryed to salvage by burning the sales and making up a story about being attacked by pirates. Lol
We want the redhead! We want the redhead!
Terrible cakes... LOVE the veggies Tales reference!
I laughed until my sides hurt! Where do you come up with this stuff! Hilarious! Best ever!
Best. Post. Ever. The talk like a Pirate Day post is awesome enough, but to end it with Pirates Who Don't Do Anything is totally fantastic.
I've never bathed in yogurt, and I don't look good in leggings, and I've never been to Boston in the fall.
Yarr! :)
Pretty sure the fourth one down is the Eye of Sauron and has nothing to do with a pirate ship. Then again, it's terrible, so who knows?
Hmmmm. I thought #4 was maybe a modern day pirate ship, complete with a radar system. Harrrrrrrr!
wv: dites
After eatin too much cakey treets, we haff to go on dites.
The cupcake one REALLY screams Pippi Longstocking to me... (glad to see at least one other person noticed too!!)
This is already my favourite blog, but the Veggie Tales reference has cast Cake Wrecks in solid metal, no other blog shall ever take its place!
hi! just voted for you and visited your blog. pls vote for my friend's blog, too, to return the favor. thanks.

Aaargh! White Scotties be WESTIES!
Dread Pirate Westies!!! Me Westie be angered at anyone who calls him a Scottie!!
Oh my goodness! I'm a long time lurker, first time poster, but the Veggie Tales reference was priceless. You have an awesome site here Jen. I've gotten friends hooked on it too. It rocks.
Oh, and *ahem* Arrrrr matey!
haha! Great cakes today!
My sister just decorated a cake for her 15 yr old son. And he wanted a Cake Wrecks themed cake!
And...he got it!
http://a-scrapaddict.blogspot.com/2009/09/happy-birthday-nathan.html
My husband is also a direct descendant of Henry Morgan and (gotta love this) is a Veggie Tales fanatic!
Oh I've never squashed a pancake/And I hate to clean the bathroom/And I've never been to Boston in the fall.
An' a-1, an' a-2, an' a-3:
Oh wherrrrrrre is my hairbrush?
WV: Folorimp, the sound the redheaded CCC makes when thrown over the side
Arr, there be much appreciat'in of the veggies on this scurvy board! Wuz not expect'in that!
Wow... those are terrible. At least the pirate CCC is quite happy...
Yeah that's definitely Sauron's pirate ship.
Arrrrrrrr, I was SURE there'd be pirates in these waters today, mateys! :-) I, however, AM in Boston and it's (almost) fall. With wrecks like this, it's no wonder the rum's always gone!
WV: difish - what the pirates shout overboard when they're really hungry
I will now be singing the Pirates song all day now. Thank you for that! I love me some VeggieTales!
Arrrr I be lovein the Dread Pirate Scotties. I hears they leaves no survivors.
That's definitely an eye of Sauron, and mega bonus points for the veggies.
Everybody's got a water buffalo, yours is fast but mine is slow and where they get them I don't know but, everybody's got a water buffalo-ooooooooooo.
WV: Twordas. Used in a sentence: The water buffalo is coming twordas!
Awesome commentary - absolutely perfect!
Me thinks them thar Scotties actually be Westies, or else the poor little woofers been bleached bone white by salt and sea. Arr, Westies hates beein' mistook fer Scotties.
A sailor went to sea sea sea
to see what he could see see see
but all that he could see see see
was the bottom of the deep blue
sea sea sea!!
At first glance, I thought the first one was a "Sims" cake. That's just a wreck in itself. But it's pirates! Is there a pirate pack for the Sims?
The CCC is just very sad, and very ick.
~Amy B
Oh my gosh. I've been having a sucky day, the pirates who don't do anything reference just made me feel a whole lot better. You're my hero.(Course, now it's going to be in my head all day. But at least I'm happy.)
I'm sure Pastafarians everywhere approve of this post. :)
John-
I agree...the french peas are the greatest.
Great blog as always!
"I think you look like Captain Crunch."
~Mr. Lunt
*wheeeeeeeeeee*
Well I've never thrown my mashed potatoes up against the wall! Outstandingly AWESOME!! Veggie Tales reference cracked me up!
I also appreciated the wrecks (and the veggie tales reference), but too bad you're not all in Boston in the fall, because there is going to be a pirate-themed cabaret in town tonight (for the holiday, of course), and it is going to be EPIC.
#2: SpongeBob BlobPants!!
I DID know it was International Talk Like A Pirate Day actually! What a fun "holiday". I'm confused why the ship cake fell apart though - they made that TOTALLY wrong. Haha, I guess that's a ship-wreck. Arr matey!
THANK YOU for the International Talk Like a Pirate Day fun! These cakes take the - well, maybe they don't, but your references do!
A few months ago I was thinking that now there are "pirates" in the waters around Somalia, are we going to be able to keep having so much fun bein' an' actin' an' talkin' like PIRATES? or will we be deemed INSENSITIVE? ARRR!!!!
I can tell those "professionals" have very little artistic experience--I doubt any of them have ever painted daisies on a big, red, rubber ball. But then again, neither have I. Nor have I bathed in yogert. And I don't look good in leggings.
Maybe I just don't get it.
[sings] And I've never been to Boston in the faaaaaaalll!
I don't get the Veggietales or the Eye of Sauron references, but that's okay, cuz I just enjoyed the heck out of all the pirate speak. Way to go Jen for taking the time to look it all up and have it make some sort of sense. I'm just glad someone didn't airbrush Jack Sparrow onto a CCC!!!
I'm still trying to figure out if #4 is a cake someone dropped and tried to cover it up with the piroutte cookies????
Arr, these be the worst wrecks to ever shiver me timbers. Well done, lassie!
Although, why in all the seven seas be there SNAKES on cake #1? I heard tell that snakes be on planes, but pirate ships?
Favorite Pirate Joke (Better if you get another person involved):
Q: What be a pirate's favorite Roman god?
A: Marrrrrs.
Q: Where does a pirate like to find his cookies?
A: Jarrrrrs.
Q: What be a pirate's favorite celestial body?
A: Starrrrr.
And the kicker:
Q: What be a pirate's favorite mode of transportation?
They Answer: Carrrrrs
You Answer: No, a pirate ship. DUH!
I guess that Pippi Longstocking COULD be considered a pirate "worthy" of CCC?
Nah!
It looks as though the eye of sauron has set sail in the second to last one. Huh.
I LOVE the title to this post. I'm still chuckling.
Oh man, is that Aquafresh on the first cake?
OK, I got the last reference and I'm not sure whether to be frightened or not. Thank you Bible-thumper classmates!
How much does it cost for a pirate to pierce his ears?
Don't know? Why, it's a buccaneer!
Hey look!! I found a quarter!!
"We wants the redhead! We wants the redhead!"
That plus the "fell no sails" pun made this Disney geek happy. :)
Dread Pirate Scotties!!! HA! That one really got me!
Lord of the Rings, Veggie Tales, Pirates, and The Princess Bride in one post.
Sheesh, that's impressive!
WV Pairats: French Pirates? Twin Pirates? Twin French Rat Pirates?
Hard to say.
The first cake is just distracting me. I keep trying to figure out why those pirates are playing hockey with giant eels (a little help here? who's winning?).
And if you ask me to do anything, I will just tell you - "I don't do anything"
I would really like to know where you keep getting those pics of the hideous cupcake cakes! Does a shop that sell these monstrosities actually exist? How does it stay in business? Do people actually buy those cakes??!!
arrr, this has GOT to be one of me fave posts of all time! i agree that that be the eye of Sauron, those dead pirate scotties arrrrr hilarious, and VeggieTales? Jen, you ROCK!!! (in a good way, not in a rocking the boat way) why, i am still laughing me head off! i must agree with thine hubby, though, that the French Peas' "Keep Walking" is the very best of the Veggie songs.
wv: hyterb- these wrecks and comments are making me hyterb[ventalate] with laughter!
haha I was so enthralled by your pirate-speak that actually looking at the wrecks was an afterthought. I have the urge to break out in a pirate accent pretty much all the time but never have the guts.
Yay, Veggie Tales!
Veggietales! WHOOOO!
Is that bird poop on the first cake? Wiggling bird poop? Or maybe they're very small slugs. *shrugs* Whatever those squiggles are, whoever came up with them could make millions selling them as a diet aid because one look at them and I totally lost my appetite.
my favorite part was at the end with the Veggie Tales reference. The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything are so funny!
Bwah ha ha! I own both a Bob the Tomato tote bag and a Larry the Cucumber tote bag. Both of them are amazing hits as I walk around a university campus with either one of them. Therefore, I literally howled with laughter with the Veggie Tales reference! (And yes, the French Peas "take the cake!" with their accents! I teach English as a foreign language (EFL) in China and I deal with accents all the time. The French Peas help illustrate how important correct pronunciation is! "Are you sinking?" or "Are you thinking?"
Cheerio!
That first cake looks like the pirates are playing ice hockey against a bunch of Shrieking Eels.
And that last one ... "no need to expose your superstructure!"
Then I thought who gives a (darn) if all the jobs are gone, I'm going to be a Pirate ... on the river Saskatchewan!
As for that winsome wench in the 2nd picture ... 6 it be, 6 bottles of rum, that is.
"Arrr? It means 'hello', 'good-bye', 'peace'...it's like 'Shalom', but for pirates."
(And while we're on the subject, Happy New Year to all our Jewish friends!)
I, like so many others, give great props for the Veggie Tales referece and say, with great shame, that in spite of living in MA for five years, I still have never been to Boston in the fall.
WV: Arwoofu - The sound of a sneezing pirate dog.
OMG LOL
these r so funny I loove the dead dogs! Poor dogs but it is funny they really do look like thay r dead, so hilarius!
~Jenn
Veggietales! I love all of the Silly Songs but the pirates who don't do anything is my faviorite! Bravo
If you ask me, the best part of this post is the pirate cookies. I work at Mrs Fields full time and those pirate cookies are something we are require to sell. Not only are they already a very simple design but the cookies come with a stencil to use... I dont understand how one can mess that up! but is obviously possible! :]
love the pirates of the caribbean reference!
I made a pirate ship cake that cracked down the middle JUST LIKE the one in the last picture. It was for my son's b-day and I didn't know what to do. I just ended up putting a little sign on it that said, "BLIMEY! Our ship be sinkin'"
What a mess !
Oh! The Dread Pirate Scotties made me giggle for a few minutes! I love it!
Aye Aye Captain Crunch!
Love the post! And I love that your interests and references are as eclectic (geeky) as mine!
I never knew Sauron was a pirate...
No, I can't say that I have been to Boston in the fall. But then, I've also never licked a spark plug and I'm not too good at ping-pong. :)
(Needless to say, that Pirates Who Don't Do Anything reference made my day.)
We want's the redhead!!
Just when I thought I couldn't like you any more than I do... you quote VeggieTales. I think we would be the bestest of friends if you lived anywhere near me. :)
Can't wait to get my copy of the Cake Wrecks book in the mail!!
WV: togspri - an all day clothes shopping extravaganza
Massachusetts in the fall is awesome!
I didn't get the Veggie Tales reference, but I LOVe the Dread Pirates Scotties!
Ohmygosh, I made that same exact pirate cake at the bottom (SO STINKIN CUTE) and it fell apart JUST LIKE THAT!! Haha! So hilarious to see those photos....I have ones just like 'em in my scrapbook! lol
upon seeing the first cake, my 7 year old said, "Pirates playing hockey, good one!"
Beth
Oh! Pirates of the Caribbean ride reference! And the Pirates Who Don't Do Anything!
And are those dogs meant to be the Dread Pirate Fireball Wilson Roberts? Awful as they are, I'm still having a DFTBA moment.
enjoyed your piraty tribute!!!!!
I can see you've been studying this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8mhbqed8HA
the second to last one reminds me of the eye of Sauron from Lord of the rings XD
