In honor of Back to the Future's 25th anniversary, and of my getting to see it on the big screen again yesterday (woot woot!), I decided I simply HAD to feature lots and
lots of amazing Back to the Future cakes.
Um, I found eight.
But - BUT - they're a really fantastic eight. So let's get to it, shall we?
This diorama of the town square from the movie is actually cake:
And not only that, a
wedding cake. Woot!
It even has a mini Delorean:
Made by Caryn's CakesAwe. Some. I just wish there were better detail shots!
And now, some delicious Deloreans:
Oh, and before I go on, let's take a moment to remember the joy that is the cake in the actual film:
Ah, the Jailbird Joey cake. Love it. I've seen examples of folks re-creating this cake for their BttF viewing parties, too - such a fun idea!
Getting back to the Sweets, how about a few flux capacitors?
It's a shame the writing was smudged, because that's a
perfect BttF quote for a 30th birthday. Awesome.
One more:
Found here, but the baker isn't listed. Anyone know? Now I want to see one that lights up.
(Duff? You listening?)
Mad props to this baker for getting the font just right:
And finally, one of the great masters herself nearly fooled me with this perfect hoverboard:
By Debbie Does CakesDebbie, you did it again. Rock on.
(Oh, and if you're wondering where her Delorean is, I featured it back here.)Oh, and if you missed yesterday's showing, there will be another one Monday night in most AMC theaters.
Go here for more info. Then make a like a tree, and
get over there! It is your density.

OMG! That's my DeLorean posted there! I feel like such a rock star! Thanks guys!!
I got to see it in London a couple of weekends ago on an anniversary trip with him indoors. These cakes are fab, afraid to show him in case he wants one. Also afraid to make it in case it ends up on the wrong side of Sunday Sweets.
Oh, thank you! I love the film but couldn't get to a cinema to see it when it was on in Scotland, due to being a whole hour away from my local cinema (and the only showings were late at night!)... :(
These cakes are fantastic!! "Flux capacitor.... fluxing"
WV: recki. There's no way these could be called recki!
I never understood the Uncle Joey cake. It was clearly supposed to be a home-made cake, given the metal pan it was in. Even if I am supposed to believe that Lorraine was that good with a piping bag, I can't possibly suspend disbelief enough to believe that she had a food-grade airbrush in her kitchen.
I think the cakes are awesome, However, I am sad that none of the Delorian cakes have the doors open!
I love these! I always end up watching this movie when it's on TV, no matter how long it had been since I'd watched it.
i think its destiny, not density. TEEHEE
Wow this is so cool I love shows like Cake Boss and Ace of Cakes! Awesome blog!
Anonymous, you obviously aren't a fan of the movie.
I loved the First one-the second and third not to much. But all of those cakes were awesome
That courthouse square cake is the most incredible cake I've ever seen. I can't even begin to imagine how long that must have taken.
What a great theme for today!
Why do the flux capacitors just look like ovaries to me?
I love first cakes. Thank you!
I love them all ! I wish I could see it on the big screen but there are no amc theaters in New Mexico. I am watching it right now on channel G4 though.
25 years?? WTH? I saw the first one in the theater. I'm not that old.
Awesome! DENSITY, indeed!
My dad would LOVE this cake. I bet you he has watched Marty and the crazy Doc over and over and over on tv (but never on the DVDs we bought him, he will not adopt technology) lol.
We all have things we aren’t proud of, right?
I saw it yesterday in Hamilton, NJ. The parking lot had a section of 8 real De Loreans on display that you could pose for pictures with. it was awesome! :)
I saw the first one in the theater, too, so it CAN'T be 25 years old. I can remember it clearly, and I'm only 29. *ahem*
Alas, I would have to drive 4-5 hours to see it in the theater, and my daughter has a concert tomorrow night, so no BttF on the big screen for me.
Just heard an ad on TV this afternoon - BttF is coming out on BlueRay DVD - i think later this week...
Thought the die-hard BttF fans would like to know.

I'm with you Zan, but maybe she improvised. You never know what a creative homemaker might be able to do with cigarette ash....
Wondrous! I forgot this was the anniversary and I watched the trilogy anyway!
I want the town square wedding cake.
OMG These are really cool! They totally bring back memories. They're as funny as a screendoor on a battleship! ;-)
Whoa... these cakes are heavy!
wv: weellp "Weellp, it's nice to see there are decorators out there who don't wreck cakes!"
These are awesome! Did you know that a Back to the Future video game is coming out soon? Christopher Lloyd will be reprising his role as Doc, and the guy that's the voice of Marty McFly sounds as close to the real thing as you can get.

Saw that movie 4 times in the theater when I was in 8th grade, so needless to say I'm a huge fan. When I saw the first cake I automatically though "Save the clock tower!!"
Lol, I'm considering skipping a class to go see this... hmmm
That's about as dumb as a screendoor on a battleship! You rock, Jen :)
Aww, I love that movie.
I like the hoverboard the best.
I love that hoverboard! I used to want one way back when I saw the movie for the first time lol. Too bad they don't exist. Would save time getting away from traffic jams.
You are my density.
My favorite line in the whole movie! Thanks for remembering.
Great cake wreck inspirations you have right here. Looking forward to more easy wreck ideas.
Did the baker of the first cake apologize for not having time to create it to scale? I love when Doc Brown apologizes for his crude model!
This is my ALL time favorite movie. I wanted to see it in theatres so bad but had rehearsal :(. Damn. I want one of these cakes!!!!
for previous comment about the flux capacitator.......it was based off of that. I remember seeing some docu on the set designs....I think the prop desginers used a medical anatomy book and made the pieces inside the delorean.
These cakes are AMAZING! I love BttF and your awesome quotes at the end. Now I must go rewatch them all!
I've recently adopted a severe obsession with the Back to the Future films, after seeing all three back to back on TV. I need one of those cakes. Now.
"Better get used to those bars, kid."
My fantasy cake would either be the locomotive from BTTF III pushing the DeLorean or Doc's modified flying time machine locomotive at the end of the movie. Either would be fantastic and fulfill my steampunk lust as well!
Gee, in the context of a cake, the flux capacitor looks much more like a woman's reproductive, erm, stuff. No wonder I get cramps, my body is trying to fly a DeLorean!
Because of this post, I found BTTF at our local AMC theater. DH and I went last night and had A BLAST! It was a great audience and so MUCH FUN... I saw things I never knew about (Like Huey Lewis being the one telling Marty that his song was TOO LOUD)...
If I hadn't read this post, I never would have known about it!
Jen!!
Found a BTTF reference in "Princess Resurrection"!! LOL.

OOH the welcome home uncle joey cake RULES! such a great idea.
you should do a whole post with movies that feature cakes and people recreating the cakes!!! ^_^
Duff HAS made one! It was for the 25th Anniversary reunion in New York. Hope it makes it on the show! YouTube
