Can you not bake,
But only gawk like a goose?
(One aimed to please)
Just open your eyes,
And take a gander at these!
And that's probably best for you,
Since my ability to rhyme,
Is frankly less than impressive.

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.
Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)
We don’t have any copies of Cake Wrecks for sale here, autographed or otherwise. We decided the shipping and handling costs would be too high to make it worth your while. So instead, buy your copies locally or online and then order personalized bookplates: it’s cheaper, easier, and I think even looks a bit nicer.
Payments must be made through Paypal, which accepts all major credit cards. Sorry, but that means no checks or MOs or barter-based chickens.
We ship everything first class USPS, and will do our best to have your package in the mail within 2 days of your order.

I love, love, love Dr. Seuss!
The cakes are great, as usual. I love me some Cat in the Hat, and the way you totally bombed the closing remarks.
These are epic! I love cat in the hat!!
This is the best day EVER! My cake is a Sunday Sweet! AWESOME!
Oh, the wrecks you will see
Misspelled & swirl pooed
The sight of these cakes
makes me want to coo!
Oh, the wrecks you will see
Marrked down and half priced
The price of these cakes
will make the bakers say NICE!
Elonock- The baker in Whoville
These are amazing! I love the baby shower cake and the Cat in the Tub cake.
These truly are sweet and so timely! Dr. Seuss's birthday is March 2. We always have a celebration at the library that day!
These Dr. Seuss cakes are all adorable. I am still wondering why Breanna is still a non-pro. She certainly does a better job than many of the "pros" I've seen!
Those cakes are amazing!
My jaw actually dropped for the water droplets.
Oooo I wanna know how to make 'em! There's gotta be some kind of reinforcement, I assume...
WOW thats all just wow
These cakes are great, but that last cake left me awe struck. It is fantabulous!
lol... loved the last "rhyme,"
I think that this post was rather impressive, and I'm glad that these cakes were not at all suggestive, but these Bakers are good and do excellent work, I'm sure a day at the bakery they would not shirk, but like you, my rhyming is done, and it was quite fun, but at last I'm all out of time.
I confess that the Cat in the Hat annoys me (which is the objective, I suppose) but I could look at your Sunday Sweets every day of the week! These are amazing.
Awesome! And Brenna's cake is so perfect! She has MAD skills! Love these!
I work with pre-schoolers so I'm surrounded by Dr. Seuss. These cakes are great! I would love to see a Green Eggs and Ham cake; I have that book memorized thanks to one five year old. I am Sam. I am Sam. Sam I Am. That Sam I Am, that Sam I Am, I do not like that Sam I Am. Do you like green eggs and ham?
The look in that fish's eye is cracking me up.
How are these cake wrecks? Where did they go "horribly, hilariously wrong"? I'm more a chef and less a baker so maybe I'm missing something.
wow, wow and WOW
Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!! I L-O-V-E Dr. Seuss..... Now my life is complete! (and I know what I want my b-day cake to be!)
I want a dr. Seuss cake!!!! I'm without words these are such perfect cakes!
YAAAAYYYY!!!!
Anon @ 11:19,
Sundays on Cake Wrecks are reserved for the best of the best. We call it Sunday Sweets. It's sort of a day of recovery from the horror of the wrecks.
Welcome to Cake Wrecks!
john
the detail (like all those little baby clothes on the line) on the cake by the "non-pro" is AMAZING. as for "non-pro"... technically maybe, but i'm not convinced. more "pro" than a LOT of the wrecks you see here!
Wow, these are fantastic. I'm a huge Dr. Seuss fan! LOVE!
ahahah! You are a poet, and you didn't even realize! ;)
Not to take anything away from Breanna K's cake at all but I'm wondering: what makes a "pro"? I've been to her site and they're wonderful cakes but it looks like she takes orders and sells them and she's teaching a cake decorating class. So at what point does one pass from being a really talented amateur into a professional?
I adore Dr Seuss! It was "Green Eggs and Ham" that was the first book my oldest child read out loud (she's 20 now).
I kept all the Seuss books. :)
And great rhymes! Much better than what I'd come up with.
My word verification sounds like a Seuss word: Sedbunsu!
Again, another amazing Sunday Sweets! Fantastic cakes, and I love the last one with the shower over the Cat!
Thanks for sharing!
Yay! I'm finally on cake wrecks!...and not even on one of the normal days! I feel like I just took a seat at the cool kids' lunch table! (secret confession: I am wearing my Dr. Suess footie jammies right now:-)
I don't particularly like Dr. Seuss (I just don't 'get' it)... but these are some stunning cakes.
That's the joy of Sunday Sweets, IMHO; even if you don't particularly like the subject, you can still sit back and stare in awe of the awesome decorating skills.
@Annette
Obviously, I'm no authority... but my understanding of the term 'professional' is that it applies when the skill in question (cake-decorating in this case) becomes the primary job.
So, if Breanna K (whose work is awesome, btw) decorates cakes and sells them as a hobby and/or a means of making a little extra cash, but still has to support herself with a 'day job'... IMHO, that would mean she's an amateur and not a professional.
I think that today's are my most favorite Sunday Sweets! I have always LOVED Dr. Seuss and I think all of these cakes are fantastic! Green Eggs and Ham is my favorite though...I with that you had posted a Green Eggs and Ham cake.
-Beth
These cakes are terrific! Designs like this always leave me with a question, though: how on earth do you cut and serve them?
I'm really hoping that last one's a baby shower cake- that would be so literal!
Do YOU like cake
I do! I do!
I like cake here and there
I like cake everyWHERE!
aren't these beauties. Too pretty to eat!
these are so incredibly awesome! I want one!
Annette- I just wanted to mention that I appreciate your kind words about my cakes. To be a "pro" you need to be selling cakes and have a licensed kitchen. While I am really lucky to have so many friends and family who let me practice on them- I don't make a living doing this... yet! =0) Someday...
I love Dr. Seuss, but why are all of these from The Cat in the Hat? That book always irritated me, even when I was really little. There have to be more great cakes out there.
Adorable & gorgeously executed.
I ADORE Dr. Seuss. These cakes are amazing!!!!!!
Love 'em!
These are great!
The Wrecks are hilarious, but I have to admit, I look forward every week to the "Sunday Sweets." My question is this... how do people cut into and eat these beautiful creations??!!
Ooooo!!! I'm in love with cake number 4!! I'm totally inspired...maybe some Seussical cupcakes are in order on my blog this week!!
There is nothing I love more than Dr. Seuss so I really appreciated this post! I was actually planning a Seuss-themed party for my next birthday so I'll be needing one of these cakes! Thank you very much for sharing these fabulous sweets and keep up the great work :)
Breanna K. and others - thank you so much for explaining that to me! Breanna, your cakes are awesome and way, way better than anything my local bakery is turning out!
Your commentary is every bit as important to this website and the cake pics--so fabulous! I love the poetry and all your wonderful snarky comments every day! Thank you.
To echo many, that last cake is simply amazing! This is one of the sweetest collections of sweets ever.
Breanna, I do hope you are someday able to "go pro"! I see from your website that you have young children, so perhaps it will be awhile, but you certainly have a gift!

I teach second grade and my absolute favorite time of the school year is Seuss's birthday. Read Across America is almost as important as Christmas in my holiday hierarchy.
That last rhyme made me think of "The Private Eyes," with Don Knotts and Tim Conway.
It's a lotta kicks!
I love the Horton Hears a who reference on the baby shower cake!!! SOO PERFECT!!!
I didn't grow up with Dr Seuss (yeah, cultural differences), so I guess I'm missing the nostalgia factor, but these are absolutely fantastic! especially the last one - how did they even do that?
I sit and am amazed everyday on this site. Most days it is that someone could build such a bad cake then try to sell it. But Sunday's WOW makes me wish I had half as much talent as these people.
And I am with everyone else, how did she do those water droplets!! I mean really someone has to relive the secrets
Oh, aren't those fabulous!
You know you are really ruining my ability to order a simple birthday cake. My standards are too high! :) I go to my local bakery and think, ugghh, is that all they can do.
Laughed out loud at your closing poem. Well played as I am supposed to be paying attention to this presentation at church!
Of most kids books, dr suess are my least fav. But those cakes are fantastic.
I love Dr. Seuss! These cakes are brilliant, and your rhymes are great, especially the last one =D
(Did you know they have actually edited later publications of Dr. Seuss books? Some of the 'scarier' monsters taken out of Wocket in my Pocket, for example. Pah. Kids these days are way too coddled!)
These are SO AWESOME! My daughter would love if I could make her a cake like this.
UH-MAZING! Great cakes!
WOW.
I do not like green cakes and ham,
I do not like them Jen-I-am!
But I do love your blog. It is a family reading affair and I share it with everyone who needs a good laugh (or a look of horror). So I have nominated you for a Beautiful Blogger award. Come by and pick it up!

Really beautiful cakes.. I am nearly recovered from those horrid engagement cakes..
I am really missing a Yertel cake.
These are all so enchanting & delightfully whimsical, just like the Seuss books are, well done!!!
Pretty cakes and Dr. Seuss... doesn't get much better than that. :)
Oh man....those are ALL beautiful works of art! Talented cake crew!
Cookie Monster, I feel your pain. These cakes are amazing and I want one for my very own.
But, if it makes you feel any better, customers purchasing one of these cakes are paying serious money for both decorator fees and royalty fees for the use of licensed characters. Or both the decorator and customer are in danger of a hefty copyright violation suit. Either way, it can get very pricey.
"I love to eat cake in the tub!" Fabulous!
Freakin' gorgeous cakes!! I'm in awe of the artistry. Amazing!
wv: swizatic, adj. meaning ecstatic to the nth degree, as in:
"I'm swizatic over these Sunday Sweets!"
What a fun theme to design a cake for! I wish I could decorate like that, just so I could make a Dr. Seuss cake.
Love the musical references! :D
I would have been a dancer
But I couldn't keep the time
I would have been a poet
But I couldn't... make the words fit...
I just love your jokes, Ken! Ever thought of trying out for a comedy/talent show? Oh, and about the mario cake with the cars... it's a wreck, cuz the yoshi is on a 64 kart. Really, it is. Just thought ya wanted ta know! Oh, and yoshi is the green one.
I love these!
I want one of those for my birthday!! My birthday is on March 2nd...same as Dr. Seuss and I have NEVER had a Dr. Seuss cake :(
These cakes are Seuss-tastic!

Adorable, definitely a work of art. xx
