What Makes Jen Happy?

Saturday, December 13, 2008

This does:

Yes, seeing Joy and Erin wearing their official Cake Wrecks aprons while holding a tribute CCC Wreck makes my soul positively hum with happiness. Hear it?

Joy writes:
"I guess we missed the tribute party post by having our (somewhat) Cake Wrecks-themed event actually ON the day of said post, but here are some photos of my friend Erin and I and our attempt at a CCC wreck (aka Frostyng the "Snowman"). Sadly, we are not professionals, and therefore good ol' Frostyng came out a little too well to be a real wreck, but enjoy anyway!
(Note also the Cake Wrecks aprons we are wearing, which are awesomeness itself.)"

You're right, Joy; that snowman CCC is entirely too well-made to be a Wreck. I mean, look at it:

You made the proportions right! And gave him a cute lil' carrot nose! What were you thinking?

;)

I must admit, though, that "Frostyng" is a great name. Good work.

and he doesn't have a bizarre bubble edge! FAR too cute to be a proper CCC wreck!

I like the sprinkles round the edges - I assume that's meant to represent mould?

That is WAY too attractive to be a wreck! I guess it does take a true professional to make a real wreck...

Ah I am starving. This is the first CCC I would eat. Yum!!

It's still a cupcake cake though. So it qualifies as a wreck!

Hey, they could have made it a wreck by giving him a second carrot, if you get my drift!!

Looks tasty!

If only there was a baby riding that carrot....

I would SO eat one of those cupcakes.

What am I saying? I'd eat several.

Very nice cake, ladies! And looking uber-haute in the CW aprons.

But, there's no mohawk baby on the nose!

That really is a cute CCC, though.

Wonderful CCC!!

I've a lot of the posts, but I've never replied. However, I was tempted to snap a photo of an Elmo CCC the other day, but I've been yelled at for taking photos in a store before, so I was worrisome with the Cake Designer standing right there. I was actually almost tempted to buy it and take it home. But I really didn't want to spend $35 for furry red frosting.

What - no mohawk baby on the carrot? Where is your sense of wreckiness?

This looks a heck of a lot more professional than some "professional" cakes. Way to go, gals! And, I'm loving the aprons. Gots to get me some CW gear!

A simple addition of a naked baby on the carrot nose could have wrecktified it.

Linz said...

Yeah, what's with the sprinkles around the edges?

Anonymous said...

Should've put one of those mohawk-sportin' naked babies on that carrot!

Far too cute to be a wreck. :) I want an apron, too.

Great blog, Jen. Thank you for the smiles every day.

shouldn't there be something riding that carrot to make it a proper wreck??!!

Or if the sprinkles were yellow...

re: comments on the green sprinkles

I like them. They add texture in a sort of festive outline and go well with the red scarf. White would be too hard to see, red would look like splattered blood. They give a "touch of magic" feel to it, like the snow man is sparkling ;).

Very cute. I think you ladies failed at making a wreck!

ROFL! That's the best looking cake I've ever seen on this blog, CCC or not! I wish I could make something that looked that good. Great job ladies!! I check this blog every day and this is the first time I've ever responded. The other cakes are crazy funny, but yours is pretty and looks edible!

I *love* the
"written on the side"

CUTECUTECUTE CCC so....wreck-fail.

Frosting the Snowman! I love it. And are those green cupcakes peeking out?? Reminds me of the real snowmen my boys would make that picked up bits of green and brown grass from the yard, and a leaf and stick or two. Good job. Maybe a Sunday perty cake just a little early?

That's actually a cute CCC.

Do you consider gingerbread house wrecks as worth wreckporting???

Little M said...

I agree, needs moar babies.

That is fantastic. I have a famous friend. I have been reading your blog for quite sometime now and to look today and see someone I know....fabulous!!! Erin you look great in your apron. I am so proud.

I never thought I'd be able to say that a CCC looked pretty good, but this one does! It's a failure as a Cake Wreck but otherwise a success.

By the way, I thought I'd mention that even the fancy-schmancy Whole Foods has gotten into the CCC business. I couldn't get a photo, but this weekend I saw what they're calling "Pull Apart Cupcakes" in their holiday baked goods display. They were rectangular and decorated with sad looking (at least for a place that charges as much as they do) piped Stars of David or snowflakes or Christmas trees. When will the madness stop?!?

Anonymous said...

ahem... what part of the snowman are the cigarette ashes along the edges of your cake meant to suggest?

Anonymous said...

Aw, he IS kewt! (I hate "cute" but I like Mr. Snowcake so...)
The cupcakes peeking out from underneath bring to mind trolley wheels, or the way the comic strips sometimes use multiple feet to connote motion.
Oh, no--the sun is out! Run, little Frosty--RUN!!
