FHOTD, This One's For You

Wednesday, August 6, 2008

So my adorable hubby, who pays far more attention to this stuff than I do, tells me that yesterday nearly 5,000 of you were referred to Cake Wrecks from a blog about horses. Which, you know, is a little odd. But hey (or should I say, "hay"?), I'm not complaining. Welcome, horse lovers!! Well, I mean, horse-riding lovers, nothing sick or anything... Wait, horse-riding doesn't sound any better...Geez, uh...

Here's a cake for ya'll, anyway:

In case you're wondering, it's a horse butt. Because, you know, all the cake baby butts were getting SO last week.

I am kind of curious about the "Good luck in life with Lacy & Tina" thing, though. The most charitable route would be to assume Lacy & Tina are themselves horses. If not, whoever commissioned this cake has a whole lotta 'splainin to do.

And Shara S., I agree: the tail IS rather worrisome.

theory - dude was cheating on his girlfriend with two girls named lacy and tina, so girlfriend dumped him by giving him a cake of a horse's a$$ - because he is one.

but that would make too much sense.

jen shikami said...

I sure hope that's a horse butt. My very first thought was "Uhhh... an extremely furry butt crack?"

Conceptualizing that as a tail is more reassuring. I guess. o_o Couldn't they have at least made it wavy? Flip up at the end? Tapered? Somethin'?

{Anissa} said...

I don't know what it is -- but it don't look like a horses butt. Still wouldn't eat it.

Kirby! said...

I did not arrive here via the horse website, but I HAVE been laughing my head off at your site!!! This is one of the funniest blogs I've ever seen. Thank you so much for all the hilarity!

sophanne said...

If not a wavy tail then at least some flies around it for authenticity. Maybe a clown with a shovel on the side.

Heather said...

I'm with the first commenter ;) ... and this site is just cracking me up!

Dea said...

SO SO Glad you're back! WOOT!

And o. M....GGG!!!! That's creepy, and *ahem* horse butts weren't my first thought. :O

I'm rolling though....and dying to know the story behind this one too! LOL!

Amanda said...

Wow - really, if you want a cake that resembles some part of a horse, is the butt really the best choice??

TheCourteousChihuahua said...

My daughter walked up behind me and said, "That just looks wrong."

P.S. - Yippee!!! I'm so happy you're back! I was starting to have withdrawals...

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading through every single post and laughing. The kids have asked me to stop though; they can't hear the TV over my laughter and they've got the volume on 40.

I also had to give you a shout out on my blog after receiving the link from a friend.

Anonymous said...

That is not the part of a horse that I would feature on a cake... but, that's just me.

I came over from the horsey site and have been lauging since. Looking forward to your future posts.

kahara said...

LOL awesome. Why didn't they use coconut frosting to simulate the hairy butt? Because that's just how I want to celebrate something...bite into a big hairy horse ass while remembering what I've had to do to my own horses during their lovely colic episodes, checking for pregnancy, or taking care of that truly enlightening caslick's procedure.

I LOVE your blog, by the way. Highly entertaining and very humorous. Thank you, and keep up the excellent work!

(I had NO idea that commissioned cakes are messed up so badly often enough to make a blog about it! How terrible!)

Rhova said...

Wow, the cake is even the right colour for the FHOTD blog owner, pretty good match for the VLC :)

Anonymous said...

All I can say is, "happy traaaails to you..."

citydog said...

As one of the referees from the horse blog, I say yes, that is a horse butt. Who Lacy and Tina are, though, is anybody's guess.

Mrs. C said...

I'm sorry, it kind of looks like a very hairy hiney!

TiredGirl said...

Hay! This FHOTD reader is now a Cake Wrecks lover. Keep those terrible cakes coming!

Trini said...

Heh, on behalf of my fellow fhotd'ers, we appreciate the sentiment. Fug On!

Ryan said...

now that I've wiped the tears from my eyes, and finally stopped laughing long enough to put a sentence together, I must say that you are a very talented writer, and I loved stumbling upon your blog.

AbbyAugustArabian said...

I found this blog yesterday after FHOTD reffered us here. Spent like two hours looking through all the posts. Good Stuff.

If you care to notice, one of the horses butt cheeks is bigger than the other.

crazychickmia said...

I agree with Amanda.

As someone who DID come from 'the horsey site', I have had multiple horse-inspired cakes...

...and certainly, none of 'em looked like that.

As someone who ALSO loves cakes and cake decorating, this site is gold =D

Rob said...

So, the horse was getting a new set of owners or riders or trainers? And the humans wanted to celebrate?

That's my guess. But a horse's rear doesn't seem like the most obvious choice when you have parts to choose from.

THAT must be why I don't professionally decorate cakes. I just don't see the cake for its deepest meaning!

PiaffePlease said...

I had no idea this was a horse's butt when I first looked at it (and Im one of those horse people that were mentioned).

I too thought it was a hairy butt crack. haha

I love this blog, I looked through all the posts last night and I was laughing soo hard.

colorisnteverything said...

Yay - you are back! Yet ANOTHER blog I have become addicted to thanks to Fugly Horse. Gah! I will have no time left in my day.

Chaucer's Bitch said...

actually, i was thinking the tail was about the only good part about that cake.

Jengersnap said...

What a lumpy bum, and it looks dappled. Dappled old nag bum? I can definately see the first poster's theory in this depiction. Yuck.

Wicked Lemon said...

I thought it rather resembled a Sumo diaper more than a horse's butt.

Erika said...

I'm one of those people who was directed here from FHOTD. I am totally addicted to your site now!

I didn't see a horses butt at all! My first guess was a bent-over sumo-wrestler...

I'm actually in the midst of planning a wedding, and your site is giving me cake nightmares. One of the good things though, is that My hubby-to-be wanted a plaid cake (it's a scottish wedding) but has changed his mind after I shoowed him how badly it can be screwed up! Thank you!

ipost | upost said...

Forgetting the actual horse butt for a moment, can we talk about what the tail is made of?

I'm thinking it has to be spaghetti covered in Hershey's syrup.

Obsidian Dragon said...

I did wander over here from the horse blog, but do not find that that cake resembles a horse's butt much. Then again some of the horses we look at over a FHOTD don't look much like horses, either.

I can't even tell you HOW I wandered over here from there, other than bored-at-work link folloiwng, but I can say that I am highly amused.

ponydust said...

I got here via FHOTD and this site is like a great dose of Happy !! As a pony owner, that butt cake is totally identifiable to me, but I sure like what anonymous said !
This blog is now on my "Favorites' list !

La said...

I'm SO glad you explained it. I would have never come to the conclusion that it was a horse. I thought it was a hamburger on its side.

ariemay said...

HI - I'm one new fan from fugly!

I love horses (well, not love, love ... just love) but I would still not eat that butt cake!

Ronnica said...

I think that the first commenter has the correct explaination. Totally makes sense!

Oh, and glad to see that you were un-spammed!

KayƩ said...

Lol, my mom and I made a cake that looked like a pink pony's head.... thinking back, I thought THAT was creepy, but this is a wierder, um, part to bake out of.

John said...

what would Freud say about this cake?

Snoopsincharge said...

Actually, when you think about it, the FHOTD (Fugly horse of the day) blog is not much different then your blog.
Fugly points out and makes snarky comments about the misfits in the horse world: Bad breeders, bad trainers.
Just like you, she still loves the fugly horses for what they are, but put blame on the creators for creating said fuglies while trying to sell their trainwrecks to unsuspecting consumers/customers.
I would call both blogs consumer awareness programs...lol
After following the link on Fugly's blog to yours, I liked your blog so much that I saved it in my list of favorite blogs. Love the horse butt cake!

CDJ said...

And today you'll be bombarded with Jezebels! Love the site. That horse's patootie cake is just wrong on so many levels!

I like the anonymous commenter's suggestion about the story behind the cake (hahah... behind... get it?!)

Never Say Never Greyhounds said...

I'm from The Fugly Horse blog.... too funny! Love the creative cakes.

Karla said...

I come from the Fugly blog. Basically, you were linked because Fugly talks about all things fugly and stupid, although she (and her readers!) do try to stay on the topic of horses. xD

Straaaange horse ass cake...

Eren said...

Another Jezebelle here. Also, amateur cake decorator. LOVE the site, I can't believe I didn't come up with it myself!! And no offense, but I hope I am never featured in it.

Anonymous said...

(Sorry, had to post as anonymous because my FHOTD name is not family-friendly! Over there, I'm Wolfb****)

I'm another one who came over from the link on FHOTD, and I love these cakes. They also make me hungry and honey, the last thing my butt needs is MORE CAKE!!! lol!

Love your blog!

water_bearer said...

I too came over from the FHOTD blog, and you're both now stored in my favorites list. I made a suggestion on the other blog that this cake be offered as a prize to the biggest horse's ass horse breeder / owner / seller of the year award, but it would be hard to nail done just one. However, if you do ever find a cake resembling an "ass-hat" then please do post it! I picture this cake, but with a big ole buttercream stetson on top.

I came from another direction (not the horsey site)...love love LOVE this blog!

for the person who asked, they do have extruders that can make the strands of the horse's tail...It's kinda like a caulking gun

happy to be here from fhotd! great blog =)

2 words - brazillian wax.

Ladytink_534 said...

It took me awhile to figure out what it even was before I read your commentary (fat-headed half bald man was the top contender). The tail worries me the most too...

H. L. Dyer said...

Ah! A cake for when you feel like a horse's backside.

rhinestone said...

Another Fugly reader, definitely will be adding this to my favorites! I'm hooked!

Merridyn said...

I'm yet another FHOTD reader. That butt is a LOT more attractive than some of the horse butts that have been featured on FHOTD!
I've learned a lot through FHOTD and looking at the disasters here, I have learned that for the rest of my natural life, I will stick to Baskin Robbins cakes!

OrangeElmo said...

Also wandered over from the FHOTD. You have a killer funny site. Thanks. I'll be back.

Val said...

I feel duped, and badly. I clicked on the fugly horse website thinking it might be like this site, only with horses. You know, catty comments about fugly horses. Well, I guess if I knew the first thing about breeding horses and the like, I might be wiping mirthful tears from my cheeks, but after reading about three blog entries down... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

So I came back here and re-read the cake blog from front to back and had a good giggle.

Sorry horse people, I'm sure it's really funny if you do horse stuff. I eat cake pretty regularly, so this is funnier.

Wis_Storm said...

Wow I am from the FHOTD... this is being added to my bookmarks! Great cakes I probably wouldn't eat any of them except I really do like the plane crash/James bond wedding cake! Amazing! Thanks for sharing!

(wow your getting a lot of new fans!)

Anonymous said...

Love the blog....

For this one, I assume that the ("tail" is black string licorice.

Even more ick.

Irene said...

Hay! As someone who was referred here from the horsey site I can say I thoroughly enjoyed reading through all of the posts you've made! I was sad when I reached the beginning. ;) Keep 'em coming!

Jen said...

Merridyn, in that case, have I got some Baskin Robbins Wrecks for you... ;) Stay tuned!

kelly said...

I am sure i saw his cake first on the original decorators site, and from what i remember, it was made for a mad who was indeed cheating.... he was a horses @$$! I also remember something about cakes like that being the responsibility of the customers to pick up and deliver... maybe she didn't want to have a horse butt in her trunk? ha ha ..... i hope they put exlax in that cake for the cheater :)

Stephanie said...

HI - I'm another FHOTD referral - thanks for the cake!

Love your blog!

Anonymous said...

Yet another wanderer-inner from the fugly horse site. I figured this was a horse's hiney from the get-go. I would love to know the story behind it too; the cheating so-and-so and ex-lax suggestions are too funny. Your blog is hilarious, thanks for the LOLs.

Anonymous said...

Another referral here from FHOTD, but I have a theory on the horse-butt-crack cake. Could it be a cake made for a team that does combined driving? Combined driving is a horse sport where two people ride in a cart (pulled by a horse, of course) through complex obstacles. The cake could be--well--the view from the back, if you will.

Not that that would make the cake any more clever or cute. Like everyone else, I thought it was a hairy butt crack!

Twinville said...

Trotted over here from Fugly Horse Of The Day(FHOTD) and have been enjoying the cake loads of laughter your blog delivers.

This horse's butt takes the cake, though. Ewww!

And I'm getting the feeling they are wishing Lacy and Tina Good luck in life just before they get a nice swift kick in the butt out of the house and into grown-up life!

Have they been wearing out their welcome at home? Are they off to college?

So, who's gonna eat that tail?

Kokorami said...

Oh, hell, I've even seen horse's a$$ _trophies...but where are the chocolate muffins?

ElizaDay418 said...

my guess is that this is also a "failure to communicate". i imagine the conversation went as such:

decorator: "so what do you want on the cake?"
customer: "i want it to say 'good luck in life'."
dec: "'good luck in life'?"
cust: "yeah. 'good luck in life', with 'Lacy and Tina' on the other side."
dec: "'good luck in life', 'with lacy and tina' on the other side."
cus: "yep, thats it."

oh, what a difference punctuation can make.

whywouldyouknitthat said...

Another Fugly referral. Love this blog! Luckily, I can say that I have been a horse person my entire life but have never once been served a horse's butt cake.

Sammi said...

Yup, I came from the blog about horses. Cake, horses... so long as there's snarky commentary to go along, I'm in :)

Sarah said...

I did not figure out what this cake was supposed to be until you explained it. Before your explanation, it just looked somehow dirty. After your explanation, well, the cake *still* looked somehow dirty.

Shannon said...

I'm with the first comment too - calling cheating man a horse's a$$. Didn't get here from a horse site - a bunch I cook together with my girlfriends each week and one of them knew of this and sent to to us all. LOVE THIS!

Anonymous said...

well, I came from the horsey site, and I must say, as i am a fan of stock horses (aka big booties), at least he (the horse) has a well formed back end! lol, and I like the first post, too. if only I had thought to give my ex a cake, it would have read "Have fun with Nicole and Brittany (watch out for STDs!)" rofl!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

just FYI...it's "y'all", not "ya'll".

I do believe it is the top view of conjoined twins with a mohawk...(Lacey and Tina?)hmmm... punker conjoined twins... yep... Good Luck in Life!

Ladybrinx said...

OMGosh, I have a new blog to visit everyday LOL... this is AS funny as FHOTD. I love it, I love cake, I loved the comedian (very sorry for your and your friends loss) this is just a great site, thank you. Also a "horsey site" convert.

thephrog said...

I'll bet it was supposed to be, "With love, Lacy and Tina" but they left out the love. Yep, they left it out when they chose a horses butt for a cake! ;)

Great blog, I just discovered it today! Laughing my "butt" off! :D

Found this ... it explains the story of this cake:

The following story was submitted by Amanda with Celebrate Cakes:

After years of working in the wedding industry, Celebrate Cakes was aware that things don't always work out. Therefore, they have established a strict "no refund" policy. When one client's mother called in and announced that the wedding was off and the bridal cake was no longer needed, the mother was reminded that all she could receive was credit for a cake of "equal or lesser" value.

Dissapointed but understanding, the mother hung up saying they would consider what to do. Not too long after that she called back asking if she could have their cake delivered to a residence on the would be day of the wedding. Amanda with Celebrate Cakes replied, "Sure, is there another event going on that day?" The mother assured her there was no event but that they wanted the cake delivered to the ex-groom with a very specific message.

The Bride and her mother requested their cake be made in the shape of a horse's rear with the words, "Good luck in life with Lacy and Tina." One can only assume who Lacy and Tina might be...

Always one to satisfy the customer, on the day the wedding would have taken place, Amanda showed up at the ex-groom's house with a special delivery. She'll never forget this experience!

Anonymous said...

My first idea for a message on the cake was

"Congratulations on your Brazilian wax!"

*shudder*
