What's a Wreck?
What's a Wreck?
A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.
Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Where's the book?
We don’t have any copies of Cake Wrecks for sale here, autographed or otherwise. We decided the shipping and handling costs would be too high to make it worth your while. So instead, buy your copies locally or online and then order personalized bookplates: it’s cheaper, easier, and I think even looks a bit nicer.

Payments must be made through Paypal, which accepts all major credit cards. Sorry, but that means no checks or MOs or barter-based chickens.

Sounds like a cute nickname for one of the Rockettes.
Not intentional? That's surprising. I'd like to meet the genius who did that.
I've heard of people naming some body parts, but knees?
Well, at least the knee gets a cake.
Wow! I'm so impressed that the person writing this knows how to spell "KNEE". Amazing!
don't you mean "phonics has phailed us"??
Heehee!
Don't you mean phonics have phailed us? ;)
My first question was whether it was intentional! My son's friend Bethany gets called exactly that on MySpace, etc. It's cute, but now I wonder if they got it from something like this?? Just how old is this cake, Bethany? Are you friends with my "Effin"? LOL
Seriously? This is what happens when strippers turn to cake decorating.
No wait that's an insult to strippers, they're good people.
Clearly we are no longer as 'Hooked On Phonics' as we once were.
Sounds like the division of a not so common language.
Cheers
I should order a cake like that just for fun!
Check out My Daily Gif Blog, a couple days left in my giveaway!

I always confirm spelling on names, even Jim, which I had someone spell Jym. But Beth-a-Knee...Please.
Ha ha Love this one.....!!
I'm SO saving this pic for my blog on my birthday!!! Never heard it said or spelled like that!
Really? How did they mess up Bethany? Hilarious!
Are you kidding me?
huh?.. It wasn't intentional?
It could have been from anatomy class.
"Look Beth, a knee!"
and these people have access to kitchen knives!! - scary ;)
It's pathetic, but funny :)
So wrong on so many levels...I would cry if my name was Bethany and I got a cake like that...who hires these these decorators and how do they keep their jobs ?
Cute, sometimes I have wondered how the people who made these cakes made it out of High School, LOL
That is just too cute of a mistake not to like.
WV: recapp (rhymes with kneecap?)
~Amy B
Well, at least it doesn't say Betta-Knee.
Phone-in order, huh?
The birthday girl's name could also be Beth-A-K who was formerly some other name (nee), but the decorator didn't finish off the inscription.
I'm shocked they managed to spell 'Birthday'
I don't know. Given some of the atrocities heaped on children these days in the form of names - that could actually be her real name. I've seen much worse. I think we all have.
I'll have to get my son's next birthday cake to say Toe-Knee.
It must have been a phone order? No one would write that down on an order form!
Ha! That's funny! Poor Bethany.... I hope she got a laugh out of it.

When I was pregnant, there was a woman on a message board I read who was naming her baby Quartknee. Maybe she's a cake decorator.
My friend's cake at her bridal shower said, "Congratulations on your Showder!"
Ah, yes. Hukt on fonicks wurkt 4 mi.
hahahahaha.........
My name has been spelled "Lilly, Lilli, Lillie, Lili, Lilie..." unbelievable!
This cake reminds me of every award I have...
-Lily (one 'l' and a 'y')
I actually have a cousin named Bethany, and we've nicknamed her "Beth-o-knee". That's what my dad puts on all her presents. :P
At least the speller has mastered the silent "k". As a third grade teacher...there are some that still need that...so there's a positive! ha!
Poor Beth-A-Knee. Someone thought a little too hard this time. lol Thanks for sharing!
My high-school boyfriend's dad used to call me "Bethy-knees" affectionately.
At least they didn't mishear her name as "Stephanie" or "Beverly," both of which happen to me on a regular basis. When I was ten years old (long before the days of showing ID and taking your shoes off to go through airport security) I once flew with an airplane ticket that thought my name was Stephanie W******.
does Beth know she is a knee?
I am amazed they knew how to spell knee.
My daughter Bethany got a big kick out of that one!
amazing
HAH! this is one of my favorites for sure! too too funny!
That's my name, and I so want that cake.
I like how three of the roses have been blurred out to protect their identity.
I can see the purchaser ordering the cake from someone who doesn't speak engrish. "write Happy Birthday Beth-A-Knee".
wv: degarra...innagoddadegarra baby don't you know that I love you.
I have to comment only because the word verification is honestly:
cantsp
good editor's summary for sure.

The only problem with this cake - trooly reelly- is that hideous blue icing.
Beth-A-K nee makes me smile, but the icing.... ?
I sometimes write my name Stephaknee on purpose (see my handle). I can't believe someone did this by accident! Giggle!
I saw this cake and it brought back many memories

I love this blog! This reminds me of a story told to me by a school teacher. She had a student and her name was spelled Le-a. Obviously everyone thought LEE-uh or LAY-uh until the mother showed up at the school angry because everyone was pronouncing her daughter's name incorrectly. Turns out that her name is LeDASHa as the mother said "the dash don't be silent."
My name is Bethany. My husband's name is Brian. Yes, really. I enjoyed this picture more than words can describe. :D
Those are absolutely amazing cakes! My mother has made cakes for over 14 years, and my sister has been helping her since she turned 15 (she's 27 now). I sent this site to them and the *loved* it.
Thank you for taking the time to find all of these great & disastrous cakes!
lol a cake for a knee? Fred Smilek is the acting president of the Society to Save Endangered Species. It was founded two years ago by Fred Smilek along with his two best friends Charles and Jonathan. http://www.fredjsmilek.com

My name is Bethany, and in High school that is exactly how my friends would spell it. Just for fun. Sad that is was done by mistake.
Oh my goodness, I think a little pee came out. :D Thanks so muc hfor the laugh!
I can relate with the spellers. I lost my memory 8 yrs ago & I have the hardest time spelling, reading, faces, names, remembering appointments/events/conversations & dates.
