Naked Mohawk-Baby Carrot Jockeys

Sunday, June 22, 2008

This cake is so disturbing, I'm almost glad the picture doesn't include the whole thing. The plastic clone babies wearing naught but mohawks are bad enough, but then they're also riding carrots. What do you do with that? It looks like some kind of perverted vegetable rodeo, or maybe a bizarre clone military exercise, what with their little plastic fists raised high in identical salutes.

And what kind of occasion calls for a "naked babies riding carrots" decor, anyway? No, wait, maybe I don't want to know...

This may be the funniest caption
I have ever read. I am just glad I wasn't drinking milk at the time which would have spewed from my nose.

o.k I stumbled across your blog a couple of weeks ago and I just have to tell you how much you make me laugh - ALOT!!!

Thank you!

On the contrary, I think this cake is AWESOME and I am so making it for someone's birthday!

Carrot-riding mohawk babies, Happy Birthday!

Carrot-riding mohawk babies, Happy Thanksgiving!

Carrot-riding mohawk babies, Happy Arbor Day!

Fits every occasion!

Are they riding those carrots or humping them?

"perverted vegetable rodeo"...bahahahahaha! Just discovered your blog today...I'm only laughing until one of my cakes shows up.

Just tripped across your blog, and absolutely love it! (Glad none of mine are in here!) This baby/carrot thing you've got here, is an absolute riot!!

Anonymous said...

I think the cake itself is from Costco...they make a carrot cake that looks an awful lot like that...so the purchaser just added the babies....wow, I'm speechless!

I laughed for a solid 10 minutes, had to go into another room and do housework, in an attempt to stop laughing.

I haven't laughed this hard since SPY magazine was publishing on a regular basis.

I just found your blog today, and I love it. I cannot stop laughing at this caption. Unlike those lucky enough not to be drinking, I just had hot coffee come out of my nose. It burns, and yet, I can't stop laughing.

The best part? If there is in fact a similar cake at CostCo, I can add babies to it (which I already have because I find them hilarious to place on random cakes) and make this cake myself...so funny!

Anonymous said...

apparently, they're all 'BOY' babies!

Anonymous said...

Not to a kill-joy, but this is probably for Mardi-Gras. Although the baby should be hidden in the cake... Maybe its for the Blind!

I wet myself a little reading this...seriously, you should put a disclaimer on the site and advertise for Depends.

OMG! I was drinking coke when I saw this one. My nose is still stinging, so not fair! And I think that next time my friends ask me to make a carrot cake, I'll just lose it!

This is a fantastic site and my cheeks are so sore from laughing, keep up the chuckles. :0)

Omg, that's too funny!!!! Holy carrots, Baby! I am going to wake MY baby laughing this hard. Wow...so is this cake a play on words for baby carrots or something? Hilarious and random. Just how I like 'em.

Alright, apparently I'm not so stealthily reading blogs at work anymore, considering I just bust up laughing and everyone had to come over and see what I'm doing. Damnit. But SO worth it.

Well, I woke up mine! :D Gods, I laughed so hard my stomach hurts. Just found this blog today and I am DYING. (do they make a cake for that?)

Again.

Keep up the awesome blog. <3

What is wrong with this cake? It will the talk of the town at the 12th Annual Perverted Vegetable Rodeo and Auction in October.

We would love to have you as our Master (or would it be Mistress?) of Ceremonies. Last year, Perez Hilton was Queen of Ceremonies and look how it launched his career...I bet you land a sweet job at the Food Network hosting your own show with a great commenting panel:
Mary Alice- "Ace of Cakes"
Chelsea Handler- "Chelsea Lately"
Kimjohannes-"30316"(hip Atlanta zip)
Michael K.- "dlisted.com"
Kathy Griffin- "My Life on the D LIST"

You Made My Day!! :-)
(cheered me up when I have been in bed with a viral throat infection for the past week) I have great pictures if anyone needs to make a cake that looks like infected tonsils!

JeanMarie Kleppick said...

I too laughed till tears ran down my face! But then, I looked at the picture again, and started wondering ... why aren't there naked mohawk babies on ALL the carrots? Are there seven for some significant reason? WTH? I can only hope that the originator of this cake will come forward to answer these (and other) burning questions.

Love your blog!

Could it be someone's attempt at a Chinese New Year cake?

Chubby babys riding something symbolic [usually a boy with a fish or rooster] is a standard Chinese NY symbol. There are baby dolls like this - with the hand aloft gesture and stylized hair- available in the Chinatown supermarket nearest me.

Why carrots though, no idea.
Also apologies if this posts twice

Why am I suddenly hearing an Austrian-accented voice in my head saying 'sometimes a carrot is just a carrot, but hoo boy! this is not one of them!'

Anonymous said...

Wow, this has to be the best cake of them all. I love how the babies have their fists raise. Truly a gem.

Anonymous said...

OMG! I think you can officially start a collection of comments that involve people almost spewing beverages because of the insane hilarity of cakes and captions. I'm in my cube (looking at your blog is a very serious part of my daily work), taking a sip of my frappuchino, when--all of a sudden--I decide it would be a great idea to click on "Naked Mohawk-Baby Carrot Jockeys." Little did I know what lay in store. Seconds later, I'm simultaneously choking on my beverage, trying not to laugh out loud, and tears are streaming down my face. This is one of the most genious entries ever. I'm also convinced that the rigorous symetry of the cake has to have some significant meaning. Maybe so that the cake can be sliced and EVERYONE can have their own little piece of "Naked Mohawk-Baby Carrot Jockeys"?

Sue KuKu said...

What a great phrase to memorize: Naked Mohawk-Baby Carrot Jockeys". I will be trying to work that into casual conversation now.

As Dave Berry used to say, that would be a great name for a band!

OMG! I am laughing so hard right now! Even though the picture is funny by itself, the caption and your wit make it even better! I couldn't even read it to my husband I was laughing (& crying) so hard!

ROFLMTO!!! I only needed to glance at that photo and I burst out laughing! Then I looked at it properly and went apopleptic! (Is that even a word?) And the caption! It keeps going through my head like one crazy word! Oh, no! Here it is again - Nakedmohawkbabycarrotjockeys! Aaaahhahahahahahaha!

What really makes this one gold for me is the style of photo, all down at the mohawk-baby level, up close and personal. You can see how the naked mohawk-babies have been squished into their little carrot saddles. Priceless. Whoo boy.

Anonymous said...

This, pun intended, takes the cake. How creative must one be to come up with the idea of carrot riding mohawk sporting nekkid plastic babies??? Was the mom to be like a carrot farmer or something. And why the cheap out of only buying 7 carrot riding mohawk sporting nekkid plastic babies? This is so weird in so many ways!

Anonymous said...

This may be the funniest cake I have ever seen... I've got to find those little plastic babies to put on my next cake.

There is a small spelling error in your post, though... "occasion" should have two C's and one S.

If there ever were something that you truly appreciated, this is it...

It's life changing really... For all future cake-needing occasions, I will, at random, pick two 'things' at random, and combine them into such a masterpiece as this one is.

For example, and to make it un-biased, and thus, potentially, hopefully, almost as funny... http://watchout4snakes.com/creativitytools/RandomWord/RandomWordPlus.aspx

And, the first two that seem to fit the 'things' category will be it.

My first two: boat & cat

And to honor this cake, I'll always, at a 45 degree angle, have the larger, riding the smaller, en masse.

It is a cake revolution.

I just discovered this hilarious blog today, courtesy of the National Post newspaper. I have a bunch of those little plastic babies too!! Only they have little angel wings and glow in the dark. The babies' hair looks like a variety of pubic hair "styles". From the rather dated, boomer style triangle (a moot point perhaps, as they're all busy loosing those triangles to the ravages of age) to the "runway". No bald/ "Brazilian" babies in sight, though. ?
A caveat to those whom might be "offended":
Babies and ladies'pubic regions/ love 'n marriage/ horse 'n carriage.....
like that. you get it.

Ok, my husband comes home from work with this site I just have to see-I'm like, WTH, I am trying to make dinner for 2 kids, already 6:30 pm on a school night, yatta yatta...so my computer geek hubbie (IT guy for his company) goes into my living room, turns on the Linux machine he has connected to our 50" HD plasma tv, and puts this cake on the screen. I hear, from the kitchen, my two girls in hysterical laughter, calling, "Mommy, you have to see this!" Can you possibly imagine the look on my face when I see HD Naked Mohawk-Baby Carrot Jockeys four feet across???? Needless to say, dinner was late, and we had the best dinner conversation EVER, trying to figure out that insanely funny cake! My kids were convinced that it had to be something from one of the many sci-fi shows we watch-my 11 year old thinks she saw Capt Kirk fight them once-or maybe Mr Spock was crying over them-picture it: Mr Spock, hands on cake, face screwed up in concentration as he mind-melds with the cake...."Ohhh, the agony!! The agony!!!".....Thank you for providing me with a new place to go to to lighten up my day-who cares what the economy is doing--this will absolutely take your mind off of it!

Oh, and thank you for the perfect idea of a cake to bring to the inlaws for Easter-they will never ask us to bring dessert again!!!

I love the cake, but I'm not sure about the T-Shirts - specifically, the "it's all fun and games..." and "Wreck On" taglines.

It's a Naked Mohawk-Baby Carrot Jockey. It doesn't need a reason. Does it need need a caption? Surely, like "I want sprinkles", it speaks for itself?

Like Michelangelo's David, it is such a powerful work of art that it could surely go unadorned? Surely, it needs nothing more than its own name to grace it:

Naked Mohawk-Baby Carrot Jockey.

Actually, this was just a long winded way to suggest a T-Shirt variation.

lol! i have to admitt it's funny but i mean not trying to ruin the laughs , but for what acassion exactly would you need a little mohawk baby humping a carrot it makes no since! like how many everyday people go up to a person and are like "HAPPY BIRTHDAY I GOT YOU A CAKE ITS A HUMPING A CARROT MOHAWK BABY HOPE YOU INJOY IT!" name one person and my case is closed :)

I think it's really quite "adorable"

That is beyond weird. However it's the upraised hand that makes it for me!

A baby shower for a couple who breed like rabbits?

This is clearly in honor of the veterans of infant vegetable wars. And in proper infant vegetable war veteran style, the inside of the cake is made out of a root vegetable. What kind? It's part of the surprise! Of course, the mohawks are totally random. Everybody knows that they had mullets.

I kept saying "naked Mohawk babies riding carrots" out loud, faster and faster, to see if there was any hidden message, a Beatles song, you name it. No such luck! I pray it doesn't haunt my dreams...

Sometimes the mystery is better left unknown, but this appears to be as some posters above noted, a baby shower cake improvising traditional Asian New Year's imagery...gone horribly and hilariously awry.

The baby riding an orange carp in the New Year's panels (bottom row, 2nd from the right) is posed like the mohawked carrot jockeys on the cake with the arms upraised with one straight up and the other out perpendicularly. The carp's tail fans out similarly to the carrot's green top. The magpies, the chubbiness of the baby, and the fish are auspicious emblems of a new year.

Someone gave my sister-in-law a carrot cake for her birthday recently. We were disappointed that there where no naked baby mohawked carrot jockeys on it.

I was wondering what to request for my 46th birthday. I will look no further.

Thank you for your sparkly blog!

My guess would be that it is one of those premade carrot cakes with the carrot decor to say what it is exactly. Someone got lazy at a baby shower and thought "Oh! I know how to make it perfect for a baby shower! Put these little plastic mohawk babies on some of the carrots! It will be so cute!" Whoever it was cheated and should be shot. ;)

They're alien babies, riding into the earth's cities on their flying rocket-carrots, ready to take over our world. And force us to drink carrot juice! We must fight back against this orange menace! D:

I forgot how I even came across your blog, which of course you know is insane (you definitely have found a niche here).

All I can say is, thank G-d I don't bake--because they'd all turn out like these...

Baby Carrots. That is my guess for the explanation of this cake.

It's my favourite cake in the world.
