Anyhoo, I promised you lovely twits on Twitter that we would extend the celebration here on Wrecks and have a whole Earth Week. So that's what we're doing. [putting on green & purple party hat & blowing on noise maker] Yay, Earth!

What? I was supposed to bring it? Oh, I see how it is: I've got to do everything around here, don't I? [rummaging through photos] Fine. I'm sure I can find an Earth cake in here somewhere...

Umm, no, wait... Sorry, that's apparently an attempt at a Spaceship Earth cake. Or a big fuzzy golf ball. Totally different.UPDATE: To the scores of you telling me this is supposed to be Disney's Epcot Center: Um, yeah, I know. See, the ball at Epcot is called Spaceship Earth, NOT Epcot. Give a Diz Geek a little credit, eh?

Well, that's more of an earthquake. Although it's nice how the Wreckerator added that bridge in to span the gap. In fact, I think it fits right in with the triple-cloned Mickey, Pocahontas, matchbox cars, roses and palm trees, don't you?Moving on...How about some earth movers?
See, since "earth" is also another word for "dirt", this actually makes perfect sense.Although I must say, they're getting quite generous with the cake toys these days, aren't they? Just look at the size of those things! Pretty soon they're going to start slapping Big Wheels on cakes and calling it a day. (No, I don't know why they'll call Big Wheels on cakes "a day", but trust me, they will.)
Here's my favorite - and probably the most appropriate - Earth Day confection, though:

Holy McMoly I can't believe how many people are quick to correct people about the "Epcot Center" thing! Wow. Seriously, if you don't actually KNOW that is Spaceship Earth, you probably shouldn't go around telling people what it's not!! Man.
Quick quiz all you Epcot Center junkies--what does Epcot stand for? What IS that ball? What's inside of it? What's in the rest of the park anyway? IS there a park behind the ball? I thought it was just a statue. Seriously, have you BEEN there? Well, I guess you have, since you know the font and all . . .
I just find it funny that so many people were willing to correct Jen when she CLEARLY (through the use of proper capitalization) indicated that "Spaceship Earth" was the name of the object in question.
I'll be honest, if you asked me what that thing was, I'd have no idea. I'm not a Diz geek like that. But in the context of the entry, I immediately recalled that the sphere was the ride Spaceship Earth.
Maybe you need to do a Sunday Sweets about Disney Attractions (are there very many Disney Attractions to be found in cake?) and properly identify them for all those who are not Diz geeks :)
Moral: Jen is always right! Never doubt!! (I guess your humor is sometimes too subtle for some.)

Jen, if it makes you feel any better, it took me FOREVER to figure out that the cake was supposed to be Spaceship Earth. I think the fuzzy golf ball theory is much more accurate. Especially if you add that the golf ball has chunky white legs.

The Spaceship Earth cake is awesome, Jen. Even when Duff on Ace of Cakes made a "round" cake, only the top half was cake. Great job! (Please come back tomorrow!)

Jen, I read your blog everyday and want to say that you do a great job. So thanks for my morning giggles...although...the spit takes with my morning coffee ARE beginning to cause irreparable harm to my laptop...but I digress.
I usually don't take the time to scroll through the comments, but these were HIGHLY entertaining! I got quite the giggle over the post; and then just sat here with my mouth agape whilst I read the comments of some pretty uptight, reactionary, attacking, back-pedaling people.

OK, so, to um, add to the Epcot madness:
I didn't realize that there was more to Epcot than Spaceship Earth until I went to Disney World when I was nine. Before then I visualized people walking around inside the giant dome. So I can see how that would be an easy mistake to make - EVERY photo of Epcot has the giant dome in it.
I also didn't know it isn't called Epcot Center anymore. I will probably still call it that even though I know better now. Why? Because I haven't been there since I was nine(I'm now almost 28). All of you 'I work there, I live near there, I visit all the time, why don't you guys know this simple fact' people should realize that most of the rest of the world only goes maybe two or three times in their lives, and it's easy to lose track of the constant changes. Heck, they've added an entire park since then, and apparently changed the names of two others.
Also, to the person who asked: Epcot is part of Disney World. Disney World is made up of all the parks, plus a lot of other attractions, resorts, and undeveloped land. You might be confusing the Magic Kingdom with Disneyland, they're pretty similar.
And I loved the pun. Maybe Earth Day will catch on as a cake giving holiday so you can have more to choose from in the future. :)

To everyone who was enthralled by how awesome Jen did the Disney font..uh, it's a font you can get on your computer just like Arial and Times New Roman. She printed that off people, she didn't hand write it.
She did however, make that cake, which stuns me in the fact that it makes my hand hurt for all that piping and that it's cake on the top and the bottom.

Ok, one more post, then that's it. To everyone who thought the Recycle cake was a recycled St. Patty's Day cake, uh, no. The "tree/cloud" only has 5 half circles. In order to be from St. Paddy's Day, it'd need either 6 or eight. Or maybe it was a WREAKY St. Paddy's Day cake because of that and that's why it never sold. Ew. Recycling a cake from March. Yuck. Oh, and I totally thought of number 2 when I saw this cake said Recycle. In one end and out the other. Hope that's not gross enough to keep me moderated. :)

The first cake is, as Jen stated, Spaceship Earth, which is in Disney's EPCOT park. If you follow the Wikipedia link posted by Inukosama, you will see a picture on the right stating that the globe, called Spaceship Earth, is the icon of EPCOT. Their Cinderella Castle if you will.
Just one suggestion to anyone thinking of adding a comment to a public forum. It's just a small, slight suggestion, but probably worth keeping in mind:

I just read all 222 comments posted as of this minute. Who knew that so many people would care to "correct" you or correct the previous "corrections". Too freaking funny! As someone who hasn't been to Disney World since the Magic Kingdom was first built and still sometimes refers to MK as DW, I did learn a lot. The number of people who need to get a life is frightening...please, people, don't have a heart attack at the above revelation about my misuse of the Disney World moniker.

Soooo, if twenty-bajillion people hadn't already, I would have probably said something along the lines of "Oh! Oh! The first cake is the big giant globe/ride/landmark thingy from Epcot at Disney!" Until I went back and read your little update note saying the ride is called "Spaceship Earth" I couldn't remember that. ^__^ See, my family just calls it the "Giant Golf Ball," so I never remember the real name.

Did you know that Epcot isn't called Epcot anymore? It was bought by Universal Studios last week. They decided they will use the *geodesic sphere* to house a Shrek ride and rename the building "WHO CARES" because: seriously folks.

ok seriously people? do you read any comments before posting your own? there are at LEAST 150 comments telling jen that the fisrt one is epcot center. which, if you don't want to be specific, is entirely true. However, if you spend your life as a disney fanatic you soon learn that the globe in the epcot center is, as a matter of fact, called Spaceship Earth. Oh the first cake: that offends me a bit since Epcot is my favorite Disney park, but heck, I digress! Too bad the wreck was baked and decorated over 26 years post-EpCake, a cake celebrating Epcot's opening on October 1, 1982, on WDW's 11th birthday!
Oh, and Cami, while Epcot originally stands for Exponential Prototype Community of Tomorrow, my acronym would be Eager Pernambucanos Come on Tour, referring to what I call turismos. Turismo is both Spanish and Portuguese for tourism, and Pernambuco is a state in Brazil, so I'm using this to refer to all the groups of teens guided by flag-bearing adults from South America, including your (dare I say it) Brazilian tour groups!
My husband and I were talking about this post today, and we have decided to name such phenomena 'Epcotdemics.'

I really appreciate that I don't have to read through a bunch of smut every time I look at comments here. Thank you for taking that on because I know that must kind of eat at you and get very exhausting very quickly. My family and I sit together and check the wrecks each night before bed. Cakewrecks is arguably by favorite thing to read. At least, its definitely my favorite thing on the internet (possibly outside the internet though, I love books). So while being sad that I had no new posts to read, I went through the FAQs. and reread this post. And read all the comments. which took a very long time.
The only thing I have to say is that the Spaceship Earth cake is awesome! I wish *my* cakes came out that well!
