The Wayward Pupil

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

I dare you to play "I Spy" with your kids on this one:

"I spy...with my one little...AAAUUGGHH!!"

Thanks to Lori P. for bringing a whole new meaning to "a wandering eye."

And also for making Number1 laugh for like five minutes straight.

Morgan said...

At first I thought she was missing the eye all together ... but it was even creepier after I found it. Ewwww ...
Thanks for the giggle! :)

SuBee said...

It's rude and heartless to mock the disfigured.
The poor girl has no nose-No ability to smell delicious cakes.I'm sure she is happy to have the gift of sight, even with her snail-like eye.

Sharyn said...

Maybe she's part flounder?

Stacy D said...

I spy with my bulging eye.......!

Anonymous said...

It's not that bad and Alice and the cat each have two eyes. What am I missing here?

Jay said...

I think the cat ate it. o_O

wv: mentingl: Any more of those 'adult' cakes? They make mentingl.

*headdesk*

Haiku Joy said...

Squid Alice unsure
of Chessie's "hey there" brows.
Ah, young nose-free love!

Anonymous said...

I also thought there was just an empty eyesocket and felt bad for poor Alice and her missing eye...but then..to see the eye clear up there all googly and bulging...*shudder*

Might be creepier than the creepy baby cakes. Maybe.

At first I thought the candle was piercing the wayward eye but after enlarging the photo I can see Alice was just trying to get a better look.

Oh, meye...

Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people.
Cheshire Cat: Oh, you can't help that. Most everyone's mad here.
[laughs maniacally; starts to disappear]
Cheshire Cat: You may have noticed that I'm not all there myself.

It's eye-loose in Wanderland!

At first, I was like, "Hmm?"

But then, I was like, "BLEAGH! WHAT THE CRAP!?"

True story.

WV: kersove - I bet this guy does some really impressive kersove.

Hai Dee said...

I wasn't going to comment, but my word verification is just too appropriate.

mesic - it makes mesic to think of how Alice's classmates probably teased her

I choked on my waffles.

BKWQRM said...

Wow...go, go, Gadget eyeball! Did anyone else notice that the Cheshire Cat is missing his nose? (Totally understandable if you didn't see it at first, given that Alice is having some...issues.)

Christina said...

if you hold your thumb over just that one part, the rest of the cake is rather nice... not spectacular like Sunday Sweet's... but not too bad...

Then there's the wandering left eye on Alice (her left, not ours) ;)

I guess the decorator got a call that his house was on fire and just blobbed it on to leave quickly..... that's my story and I'm sticking to it :)

wv: ectsyce
My mom's "Death By Chocolate" cake is pure ectsyce!!

Maureen said...

It took me about 20 seconds to find Alice's eye. Because, you know, I was looking where it was supposed to be. AAAAAAHHHHH!!!!! They should have moved that candle over a bit and put it right through that wandering, deformed, almost-cyclops socket and ball so that poor birthday girl didn't get freaked.

Kimberly Chapman said...

Eet's not a toomahh!

Anonymous said...

Oh no! I totally missed the second eye until I read the comments! Now all I can hear is "Ruth...Ruth....Baby Ruuuuuuuuth!"

Lots of love - Ruth

wv: clibrin - Doctors now use a new technique to clibrin the eye back to orbit.

Haiku Joy-

That maybe my favorite cakewrecks haiku EVER. Thank you.

Stephanie said...

Aww, that's Wonderland for you. First it's a grin without a cat, now wandering eyes and a lack of noses. But no nose is good nose, as they say.

Anonymous said...

Stacy D...best comment of the day!

deckardcanine said...

Am I strange for seeing the left eye right away and thinking little of it, aside from the candle poking it?

Donna said...

I didn't know Alice was Marty Feldman's love child.

Holy crap.

Pop-eye!

No Cake Fo You!! said...

Yeah, Alice's profile is a little "jacked up" too funny! Now that's what I call "roaming eyes"

WV: Peleesa tell me where the eye is supposed to go...

SalannB said...

To quote Heywood Banks,
"She's the one eye, one eye, one eye,
She's the one eye, one eye love..."

Katie Girl said...

That eye!! Augh!

Alex said...

LMAO! I didn't see it until I read the caption. Longest laugh I have had in a while. Glad I am not in public.

Funny, but I have to say it:

Don't you know what happens this week? WHERE ARE THE HARRY POTTER CAKES?!?!?

Jay said...

Oh my dear lord, I didn't even see that there. I take my comment back. The cat ate it and spit it back out. Wowsers.

wv: intiou: He's just not that intiou.

Kimberly Chapman - My family LOVES that line from Kindergarten Cop!!

Donna - Marty Felman's love child - HILARIOUS!

Being a major Alice In Wonderland fan, this cake makes me sad. And it makes me laugh. Mood swing inducing cake! I would have been a almost cute cake if Alice wasn't a mutant.

Nan said...

Haha. I didn't see it till I read the caption "underneat." WAYWARD PUPIL! Priceless. If the profile had been done properly, there wouldn't have needed to be a left eye.

wv: subcly
The cake was subcly and expertcly done by a professional baker.

Micalah said...

Almost didn't see it!

John Hill said...

I see your weird eye, and raise you one tendril like cat dong beneath the branch Cheshire is perched on. His tail is above him.

My favorite Disney movie: "Eyeless in Wonderland"!

Bets said...

"Would I?"

"Hare lip! Hare lip!"

(Did anyone else think of this joke? It's even more appropriate given the whole "hare" and "white rabbit" connection.)

p.s. HAHAHAHAHA Jay's wv is hilarious (intiou).

Chantelle said...

HAHAHAHHA @Kimberly Chapman!!

AND I agree with Helga!! Where are the Pottah cakes?!?!?!?!?!???!?!???

SaraCVT said...

That looks like it hurts.

wv: gronet. That cake makes me gronet has no sense of proportion.

Anonymous said...

Sharyn- that is awesome. ha!

If this were a picture in the Wonderland newspaper, here's what the caption might be:

Alice suffered horrific burns when she spilled boiling tea all over herself. She had to undergo surgery, leaving her with a slightly modified face. Ever the optimist, she said afterwards, "Well, even if I'll never smell anything again, at least now I literally have eyes on the side of my head!"

Cortney said...

Jen, I have to say that all the wrecks out there make me want to start ordering decorated cakes for all family birthdays. I normally make them myself, but the chance of wreckie gold makes me willing to shell out the extra cash. Maybe start with my birthdays.

kate said...

I admit, I missed it at first. I was looking for something "adult" in nature. You know, a lot of one-eyed snake references, etc. LOL

Cameron said...

The only jarring part is that left eye of hers, and like others, I didn't notice it at first. In fact it would have been better left out, since it would give it a "left eye in shadow" effect even with her right eye.

It's a perfectly nice-looking job otherwise.

Tami said...

Ah Bets! One of my dad's favorite jokes! Thanks for the happy memory. :)

Reminds me a little of one, Mr. Brian Peppers (sorry to bring this back, but I had to):

Arlene said...

Poor poor Alice. Looks like one eye just doesn't want to stay put. Glasses couldn't even fix that lol. At least they managed to spell birthday correctly so that's something, right?

American Momma said...

I had to scroll back up and look at the eye and after my pure terror finally went away, I realized that Alice is related to Voldemort - the lifestyles of the young and the noseless.

OMG it's a wall-eyed Alice! Every time I look at it I commence to giggling.

wv bulnor - Neither bulnor cow would want to be left alone with The Queen.

I've been trying to suppress laughter for several minutes now. First it was the picture, then there were the comments, and then I discovered the joy of Haiku Joy! Still struggling with laughter though. Goodbye, spleen.
