WHAT?!?
Thanks to Becky's daughter Amy C. for the, uh, recommendation. I'm sure we'll all keep it in mind the next time we're "wookin' pa nub."
When professional cakes go horribly, hilariously wrong.

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.
Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)
We don’t have any copies of Cake Wrecks for sale here, autographed or otherwise. We decided the shipping and handling costs would be too high to make it worth your while. So instead, buy your copies locally or online and then order personalized bookplates: it’s cheaper, easier, and I think even looks a bit nicer.
Payments must be made through Paypal, which accepts all major credit cards. Sorry, but that means no checks or MOs or barter-based chickens.
We ship everything first class USPS, and will do our best to have your package in the mail within 2 days of your order.

At least the roses are pretty thought. :-)
"Doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo dooo, doo doo doo doo..." *Twilight Show Theme Music, in case it wasn't clear*
I am having a very clear case of the heebie-jeebies...
for some unknown reason, I was singing Buckwheat's version of "Three Times a Lady" THIS VERY MORNING IN THE CAR.
Was I having some sort of CakeWrecks ESP moment?
Are we connected on an astral plane (plain?)(hurr) somewhere?
Is this freaking you out as much as it is freaking me out?
(Probably a "no.")
Kind of cool, though.
Carmiehead, the Un-Stalker
And isn't that how we all want to be remembered, really?
WV perch- And from her perch on high, Jen cast out all the wreckrators, and we all lived, happily, though not as laughily ever after.
*snicker*
What a beautiful cake! Nice roses, gorgeous penmanship. But WTH does that mean??? "A Wise Lay"??
Is she a smart prostitute?
Is she an entrepreneurial chicken farmer?
Is she a potato chip CEO announcing a business merger between Wise and Lay's????
seriously, what's the story here?
What could that possibly have been intended to say? Or was that intended? 'A Very Wise Lady', perhaps? Please tell me it was that.
Boss: "D! You forgot the d! As in defamation of character! Dunce! Dipstick! Dimwit! And anything else I can think of that starts with 'd'!"
And so, Dylan's 'Lay Lady Lay' is set as today's soundtrack. Jolly.
"wookin' pa nub."
You don't sound much better yet, Jen. More drugs!!
I'd love the backstory on that one.
I have the most fantastic WV today: saweet.
CakeWrecks sure is saweet!
OMG, Eddie Murphy Buckwheat ref FTW!
Word Verification totally fits this post as weel. Abili. An alibi for a very drunk person.
Wow, Totally lost without the comments today. Wholly on track now though. lub it. Thanks! >^.|.^<
Great, now I'm gonna have "Wookin Pa Nub" going through my head all day...
Awesome post! got any velvet love? lol!
Wookin' pa nub! {{snort}} Maybe the cake decorator was trying to slip in subliminal advice to Becky to be a monogamous gal?
What the... brain can"t comprehend this... must think smart thoughts O_o
Mwa-ha-ha!! Are you even OLD enough to have seen Eddie Murphy do Buckwheat?! I LOVE it!
At least it was in quotes so we wouldn't take it literally, right?
wv - aphork. Pleas pass me aphork so I can eat some cake.
Buckwheat! Yay! Gotta love the classic SNL sketches. Now if you could only find references to the Landshark (Candygram! NOM NOM NOM!), The King Tut Song (Steve Martin), and "The Cowbell Fever" (Christopher Walken!)...
Another Andrea (in Ohio)
"A Very Wise Lay" IS a compliment, but I still wouldn't write it on a cake.
Is that another way of saying she has, uh, a lot of experience?
I loved Eddie Murphy as Buckwheat....and Gumby...and Mr. Robinson...OH! And James Brown in the Hot Tub song! Thanks for the great reference!
Andrea
It a nsa cake
What a beautiful tribute to a so often overlooked gift.
wv - fibus: That really is true, isn't it -- you're not trying to fibus....
My mother used to say, "if you can't lay anything wise, don't lay anything at all."
Personally, I love the irony that this was submitted by her daughter...Way too funny!
A compliment, maybe, except that it's in quotes, and if Jen and John have taught us anything, it's what quotes indicate.
And I'm with Lori @11:08 - so impressed at the wisdom of one so young. Wait, so would you then be a "wise lay"? I'd better go get that cup of tea now...
HAHAHA! "Wookin pa nub" is awesome! Very appropriate for this cake too.
Hey maybe Becky's last name is "Lay." Or maybe Becky's really smart about who she sleeps with.
Also, I now have "Buckwheat's Greatest Hits" stuck in my brain.
Such a shame, the penmanship is otherwise exquisite (relative to mine)!
And the best part is, with the floral design, and "wisdom" call out, you just know this cake is for someone's grandma.
ROTFLMBO! "A wise lay"? Beats being an "ignorant slut"! Oops, showing my age there, ain't I! ;-D
Yeah, poor Buckwheat. Too bad he got shot, tho'.
wv: ingel: I get a ingel up my leg when I hear Buckwheat sing.
Ok, I started laughing before I even got to the cake... Now after reading the comments, I am singing Buckwheat tunes... Please tell me some Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood relics will find their way to this post one day--Kill my landlord, Kill my landlord..
I must have been the only one who looked at this and saw "wide lay." I'm not sure what that means but it sounds like an insult.
Better to be wise than wide!
WV portie -- what the call a celebration in NJ. What kind of portie is that cake for?
bwahahaha and such a purty cake.... I would be proud of I got a cake like that...*winking*
WV: Sines, We have all the Sines that these Wreckerators really don't have a clue...
Man that's a shame because it's gorgeous cake.
Becky must know Amber from your other post. ;)
Well you know the old saying... if the cake is a rocking, don't come a knocking.
Becky, I can relate...I usually wait until he's done some choreplay. *wink*
Sometimes you just have to retard yourself to accommodate others
Heh, I love that skit. Now I'm going to have "wookin pa nub" stuck in my head all day.
I think it is more sad when a cake is so lovely and only the inscription screws it up... such nice cake writing.
At least it was written in a very pretty handwriting! That's got to make up for the... error. It was an error, right?
I guess they figured no one would notice if they left out one small little letter since they ran out of room. It's a shame such nice penmanship was wasted on them...
...And it is such a nice cake, right up to that point...
At least it's feminine and dainty, even though the underlying message is a little... abrupt. Well, that's one way to remember someone on their birthday.
You people are completely missing the hidden insider trading message. Wise and Lays are both potato chip companies. The companies are merging. I'm reporting Becky to the SEC. Right after I call my broker.
Has anyone considered the fact that maybe Becky was a prostitute who used her wisdom and cunning to narrowly escape death? That would make her a very wise lay indeed.
So funny when letters that pretty go that awry! - Sally
Where is the sorry cake that says, "Better to be wise then easy"? If I were the person on the receiving end of this cake, I would really question who I hang out with. How mortifying!
Don't feel bad for Becky (she got a "Happy Birthday"), feel bad for Avery! The "v" isn't capitalized, and since my son's friend is Avery, that's how it reads for me! Better to be called Wise Lay than Stupid Lay, right?
WV quano (adj)- batsh*t. Charlie and Qaddafi are both quano crazy.
ok...so I had to google buckwheat reference (being an aussie) but was sooooo worth it.
A wise lay...not thats something to aspire to..
WV: rerbock: my new running shoes
Love the Buckwheat reference...maybe Becky is one of the Dupremes?
WV:buroph I ate so much cake, I had to buroph!
OMG my husband and I were HYSTERICAL!!! The cake itself is funny, who knew forgetting a d could make such a huge and funny mistake, but honestly the buckwheat eddie murphyisms...that was shere brilliance and MADE the post!! Its not nice to make an 8 month pregnant woman laugh that hard!!!
LOVE the Buckwheat references!
Just axed my hubby if he was wookin pa nub...he ran in the bathroom and locked the door.
wv redux - perch: I set on my back perch lookin at farflies.
Hate to be a killjoy, but I looked at the cake, saw 'A very nice day' and wondered where the wreck was.
Then I read the comments. I think the style of writing is very old and I'm extremely sad to say that I can read it because that makes me very old too.
O Tay!
When I think of the type of lei I'd like to be remembered as it wouldn't be "wise" but (beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep) or (beeep-beeep-beeeeeep).
-Barbara Anne
Lmao!! The entire cake was gorgeous until you got the wise lay comment. Man I really hope they did not pay for that although if they did they could quickly cut a piece out of the lay part lol.
Unce, Tice, Fee Tine's a...
The title was so funny I almost didn't even scroll down to see the cake. Wookin' pa nub! Buh-weet FTW!
Maybe Becky is very experienced in this area, and seeking her out is a wise choice. Meanwhile, what was that third 'Buckwheat' song? The one called '???????'
WV: healedo: no, it doesn't
hmmm must be a good nay a great teacher...lmao...
"Daba dobba. Daba duh dobba dob. Betty Dabis bies..."
Having a rough afternoon and this totally just brightened my day. Thrice the thanks!
I never comment because, well, you usually say it all, but I have to tell you I just about peed myself (TMI?) on this one - this was one Eddie Murphy bit I've howled at every time I see it, and every time I hear one of the real songs I can't help but hear Buhwhea's version in my head...
Thank you for the "Buh-weet Sings" references! Una panoona bankaaa-aah!
