"World" Tour Wrap-Up: Chicago

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

Just realized I haven't posted anything about the tour stops in Chicago and Dallas. (I can't imagine how that slipped my mind...)

First, let's take a look at the redonkulous Carrot Jockey cake, provided by of Gena of iHeart Cakes:

Isn't she gorgeous? Gena, I mean. The Carrot Jockey is, uh, well, rather creepy. But in a good way, of course. ;)

That's cookie crumb "dirt," and it tasted grrreat!

The crowd:

Our "winners":

Gina (the grand prize winner), Stephanie, & Eric
And their entries:

I love that Eric found a mini lace doily to put this on. Heh.

And here are a few more of my favs:

You can see all of the entries in the CW Facebook album here.

Stay tuned for pics from Dallas, the show where everything went wrong. (But a good time was still had by all. [Except for John.])

I love that the over-frosted dog cupcake is lying in a wet puddle (I'm assuming frosting grease?)

I love that carrot jockey!

How is John doing? We're thinking good thoughts for him in Denver.

I hope you're both feeling better and getting your strength back! I've been praying for you!

Glad to hear you both are doing better, and great miniwrecks, it must be so hard to choose!

Coming out of lurkdom to say I am so glad to learn John is doing better. He has been in my thoughts and prayers. In case jokes are still needed: Two canibals are talking to each other. One says, "I can't stand my mother-in-law." The other one says, "Then just eat the noodles." (Rim-shot)

Dear John and Jen of Cakewrecks™,

I'll be sending in your bio-hazard suits lined with bubble wrap and matching themed bicycle helmets in a few days. Sorry for the delay.

I hope nothing went wrong with the tour. I mean, how much trouble could two people touring around the country eating cakes get into?

Again, apologies for the tardiness of the precautionary gear. I got a phone call from Mr. Law a few weeks ago and just couldn't put it down until today. Then again, you know how much Murphy can talk.

Anyway. Hope you're doing well.

Sincerely,
The Universe

post metaphysical script: By the way, say hello to the Longhorns. They're Murphy's favorite team.

Jen & John, in case you don't have a basis for comparison or have been too busy to realize it, your book tour went amazingly. You packed the venues. People brought vast quantities of cake. People loved you and continue to love you. As well as being well you should be proud. There are authors who go to book signings and hope someone shows up.

So relieved to hear both of you are doing better. Continue to get well. Here's to a complete recovery!

OMG, I love the Universe! Bwhahahah! Great comment! ;)

Great turnout for Chicago! I am still extremely bummed I missed your Portland showing. The day you were here I was on a plane for Vegas! Didn't win anything so it was so not worth it!

Glad John is doing better! Still keeping you both in my prayers!

The carrot jockey cake is awesome! Well, awesomely horrible. : )

So sorry about the health disasters in Dallas! It totally sucks to be sick away from home. I was going to come to the Dallas signing but I was sick myself! Glad to hear that John is feeling better and hope y'all are both back to 100% soon!

I am SO glad that John is feeling better. I've been worried about him in a way that I'm not usually worried about people I don't know personally. Go figure!

So glad to hear that your sweet hubby is doing better--I'm still thinking good thoughts for him!

That carrot jockey is reminiscent of the Sta-Puft marshmallow man in Ghostbusters, no?

We're SO glad to hear John's improving!
Take good care, keep laughing, eat cake, and have a sweet day!
All the best,

Sorry we won't be seeing you in NYC - but I'm glad John is feeling better. Hopefully you'll make it out here someday!

I'm un-lurking to echo the common sentiment here that I am so glad that John is feeling better. As the resident cake-wreck-fan my mom's been asking me daily whether or not "cake-wrecks husband" is better, I was was thrilled to be able to say he was. What an inauspicious way to bring your tour to an end. (John should really not be pestering your publisher yet either. Tie him to the bed if you must.)

On a lighter note, the first picture here is cracking me up because of the Twilight "Scene-it" that is sitting on the shelf in the background. Edward looks like he's staring at either the cake or the decorator with quite a bit of hunger in his eyes. I keep scrolling back to it. *hee*

Here's to your (Jen) and John's continued health. I'll be keeping you in my prayers. :)

Glad John is feeling better :)

My 8 yo was told to go put on her Ghi for karate class yesterday. She very seriously asked her dad, but what if I look like a Ghi-k?

The carrot jockey is definitely creepy.
in a good way :)

I'm so happy that John's OK, and I hope you guys can reschedule everything! This time, head over to Ann Arbor MI!!

So - I teach Elementary School music and during my "break" I had your site open. A kid just walked over and said, "What's THAT?" "It's a baby riding a carrot. . .it's a long story. . ."

THANKS for giving me humor during my very short breaks from teaching!

Aw, the watermelon wreck brings back fond memories of the very first time I came to cakewrecks...

I was there, and voted for that poor over-frosted dog cupcake that was lying in a wet puddle on a doily.... unfortunately the male genitalia always wins over sloppy puppies, booo

That being said I hope there is some good news on the health front!
