Yep, behold the glory of our brand new site design! Thanks for the many lovely comments so far; I do hope you'll all find it more streamlined and purty-like.
Shout-out time: many MANY thanks to Awesome Aric (yes, I think that's how I shall refer to him from now on) of Tiki Kitchen Design. Aric has been working with me and John for weeks now, and for every "hey, what if we tried THIS?" he gave us multiple options and somehow managed to mask his desire to throttle us with unbridled patience and enthusiasm. Those of you familiar with web design know just how difficult it is to design a customized site in Blogger, so the fact that Aric was willing to try - and had the skills to write code from the ground up when necessary - has been a godsend. We'll be continuing to tweak some of the links and pages this week, but in the meantime y'all be sure to thank Aric in true CW fashion, k?
And, Aric? We mean that. Truly. ;)Update: It seems we have all the bugs worked out now but we're hoping you guys can help us out by telling us about any problems you encounter. Let us know okay?

I'm on Mac with Firefox and can see it fine... although Firefox just crashed for the first time ever so maybe not so good after all!
I thought the ads were supposed to disappear? Or did I misread the "we're cutting ads" bit of the announcement? Normally I read through the LiveJournal feed so it doesn't matter but I was curious when I saw they were still there.
I can't see it on FF, running Vista, either. :(

When I first went onto the site it looked wrong too. But I just refreshed and it fixed it. Now it's working fine. Looks awesome!! Go Carrot Jockeys! :)
I can't see it either on my iPhone where the old blog cane through just fine. All I get is a white background with skinny ads on the left and the blog WAY down at the bottom. So far I like the old Cake Wrecks much better.

I'm on Mac OS X on Firefox, and I can see the new theme on this post but not on the main page. (I accessed this post thru an RSS aggregator, so that might have something to do with it.)
Linux with Firefox, all that showed up was some black text on white background. Shift + reload and the new site design did come up.

Unfortunately, the first time it loaded I did get just plain html messiness. I'm on a PC, using Explorer in Windows. But, as per your suggestion, I reloaded and was rewarded with the new site in all its glory.
Thanks for removing that light blue text on dark blue background. It was rather hard to read for these.. um.. older eyes. Now if you could do the same for the category links on the left side of the page, please.
I had a plain page for a couple of tries today, but third time's a charm! I'm using a Mac (OS v10.4.11) with Safari (v4.0.3). New site looks great!

We're working on it over here. The odd thing is, with Blogger, you can only control so much. Since the occasional breakdowns are pretty well distributed over several operating systems and browsers, I think it might be a Blogger issue.

First view on Safari 4.0.3 on Mac OS X 10.5.8 is basic HTML, no stylesheets being applied. Haven't tried it on other browsers yet.

Okay, I love cakewrecks..... but this new site doesn't work. I have Vista 64X and then have tried it in both Firefox and IE... neither works. :-(
Wait, a couple of refreshes and it worked but it's loading painfully slow.

Not quite right on Google Chrome.
Didn't work in Firefox 3.0.13 on a PC running XP. Refreshing the page fixed it but it was still very slow to load and I have 20Mbsp FIOS. Yes, maybe updating to Firefox 3.5 would solve the problem but I shouldn't have to stay up to the minute just to read a blogger site.

Latest firefox on Ubuntu 9.04 (Linux) -- got the html page on first load; refreshed and all was well. Looks pretty slick!

All I got was the plan html, and I'm on a PC running Firefox version 3.0.
Using a PC with Mozilla Firefox, I got the plain html page when I typed in www.cakewrecks.com. Once there, I clicked "home" and got the proper page with images.
I think it looks absolutely great!

I'm getting a plain HTML page; am using a PC with Google Chrome.

Came up first try with Google Chrome, though the search button in the upper right corner has the h wrapping to the next line (even after refreshing).
Firefox 3.0.13 missed the carrot jockeys and background (it was just navy blue) the first time. Looked great upon refresh.
Firefox on a PC but once I hit the "home" link, it went to the new site. I like how clean it looks - very nice!!
I'm on PC, Windows, and Firefox. It didn't work the first time, worked the second time, so I kept clicking. Looks like it works about half the time for me.
Love your new design! It didn't show up right when I tried the Sunday Sweets for the first time today (using Firefox on Windows Vista), but clicked "Refresh" and haven't encountered any problems since. Go CW!
I use the Google Chrome browser on a PC with Windows XP. When I first pull up the page it shows me the html but I took a fellow commenter's advice and hit refresh and I got the fabulous new page.

I'm on Windows Vista Home Premium and using Firefox 3.5 and I got the plain HTML at first.
I'm on Windows Vista and Firefox 3.5.2 and it came up with narrow side bars and a blank page with the plain text blog way down at the bottom, refreshing brought it up just fine and the page looks great!

Just wanted to add that I'm seeing a few lines of code at the top of the page, and I'm using Firefox with Ubuntu Linux. But other than that (which is a small ignorable thing) it looks fabulous.

I'm using Firefox on OSX and while I can see the layout perfectly (it looks great), there is a small, two-line strip of html at the very top of the page
I see a block of XML code above the header, but otherwise it seems okay. I'm on Win XP 2002 SP2, running IE 6.0. All the best!

I can see the new layout, but I'm also getting a mess of html on the top of the page for both IE and Firefox on Windows Vista.
It looks like this on IE, and this on Firefox.

I like it and everything seems to be working
I checked it last night and it looked great, this morning the top header area is all html.
Looks great! I'm on Windows XP with Firefox.
I see a blue starburst-y thing and babies riding carrots, but no header that says "Cake Wrecks" or "Cak Wreks" or even "Cake Wercks". Everything else seems to appear, a few ads, some blogher stuff on the left, etc.
On Firefox on PC with Vista (blech).
I'm using Firefox on a windows system and it works fine for me. It looks fabulous.
I am using a PC running Vista and using Google Chrome and it looks GREAT!!! Love the new look!

I see it all just fine, and I'm on the latest version of Firefox, on a Mac.
I can see it fine on Windows 7 with Opera 10. Great work!

took a few tries, but finally saw something-I'm a PC
I don't usually like change. If it ain't broke and all that.
But, I DO like the look.
The sizing is good. One zoom in and it is the perfect reading width on my blackberry.
Unfortunately, it is loading slower. And intermittently locking up. Either the resolution is higher, or the scripts are doing too much.
I know blackberry is not a high priority browser.
I used to have troubles but it had been much better lately.
I CAN see it and apparently can leave comments.

i really really like it!!!!!! this new comment style is awesome. i have a mac OSX. at first the page didn't show up, but then i refreshed and it did~!
Looks GREAT! (I had no problems viewing it @ 9:30am est when the new post was up) Looking forward to spending many hours at work at the site! My monitor at work does not have good contrast and brightness so the white background around the posts will make it easier to see!

Hey just wanted to make a general comment on your WoW posts. In the game neither the Horde or Alliance are inherently evil except to one another. They both fight a common enemy but as separate factions. It is, however, common knowledge that the Horde are primarily played by more adults than the Alliance because they "look evil". WoW lore would actually define the Alliance as being more evil per their actions and general intolerance of so many other races in the game.
Love the updated look - had to giggle when I saw the babies riding the carrots.

Works on OSX 10.4.11 with Firefox 3.5.2. With Safari 3.2.1 on the same system it also works but is very slow to load.

I like the new layout. However, I have the same somewhat minor issue with it as I did with the older one. I dislike having to scroll down past the comments to find the "older posts" button.

Hi, long time lurker (and fan!) first time commenter. I love the new look. I can see the site just fine, but horror of horrors, I cannot see the images in the posts! No cake pictures, wah! I'm sure it'll be fixed soon, so I'm not hyperventilating yet...yet.
I'm running firefox on vista, btw, and I've tried refreshing the page several times. I'm about to open up IE to see if it does the same thing.

I'm mainly seeing ads, it's quite offputting. There's an ad at the top instead of a blog header!
Oh I simply adore the color scheme. I love blue and orange, and yellow and purple. Simply marvelous.
My only suggestion is that white text box. White is such a plain, boring color and it's very hard on the eyes in contrast with the dark blue of the rest of the page. Maybe a light orange? Something like #ffc975 and then the main font could be a navy, or #00038d or something.
I'm a graphic design student and if I had worked with Blogger before I would have been more than happy to design the site for free.

UM, well, I see I'm in the minority here, but I don't care for the new look. It's harder on the eyes. The font seems smaller and less easy to red, so I'm staring at the words rather than cake pix. And the cake pix, now surrounded by white instead of that nice blue which drew your eye IN to the pix, well, the white frame is jarring and to me makes the pix look smaller. Sorry to be a grump. It's just more work to look at it.
Looks great! I'll miss the links to other entries in the month though since I'll have to go back through my feed for each new post when I have a bunch to catch up on. I love having a 'recent posts' section or 'next' and 'previous' on a blog.
