A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.
Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)
We don’t have any copies of Cake Wrecks for sale here, autographed or otherwise. We decided the shipping and handling costs would be too high to make it worth your while. So instead, buy your copies locally or online and then order personalized bookplates: it’s cheaper, easier, and I think even looks a bit nicer.
Payments must be made through Paypal, which accepts all major credit cards. Sorry, but that means no checks or MOs or barter-based chickens.
We ship everything first class USPS, and will do our best to have your package in the mail within 2 days of your order.

That is one of the least appetizing cakes I've ever seen.
Well... that's just unfortunate.
Not only the cake, I mean, but that that song will be in my head for the rest of the week now. Thanks Jen...
OK, now I'm song-poisoned for the day. I'll never get that out of my head...
Blech....it reminds me of that sugary candy of long ago - "sugar babies".
Chocolate Gooo.
He will never, never come for you.
He is chocolate, he isn't poo.
He is Chocolate Goo...
I love the Gummy Bears. :D
That poor poor gummy bear got turned to stone! Is there a Medusa cake nearby???
(I suppressed the urge to ask if the gummy was poo flavored...)
It's a Poo Bear! Or something my dog left on the carpet.
*whimpers* Why do that to a poor Gummy Bear? (And yes, gee, thanks SO MUCH, Jen, for getting that song stuck in my head!!!)
Bake sale and this was contributed by child? Made with donut holes and covered in melted icing? Sorry, but I see a brown gopher or even a prairie dog since that is what I hunt regularly in my acreage.
Sharon's Edible Art
When I was a sophomore in high school, my chemistry teacher insisted we sacrifice gummy bears to the lab gods to prevent any of US from being injured.
We should have used that cake. :-P
Are we sure Bill Murray isn't looking for his C-4 gopher? I visualize him biting the head off of that one.
I believe I am glad that's a song/show I've never seen nor heard.
I don't like gummy bears and I don't think I'd want to eat this one either! Plus there's the brown skid mark on the cake board in front of it. Ew.
It reminds me of spam. It's a Spam-cake!
Kyla :)
Who knew poo could be trained to sit up and beg? XP
In the vernacular of the time-period, "Totally gross to the max, dude! Like, gnarly! Gag me with a spoon!"
Carmen, the Un-Stalker
WV: "phorg" - the noise I just made thinking about this cake.
That is just gross! Thanks for sharing it with us all : )
Yikes!
EARWORM......NOOOOOOOOO!!!
Good grief, what on Earth did they try to charge for that failure?
WV: lunmeg - arm and a leg?
OK I feel old because I had to look this up on Wikipedia. Had no idea there was ever a 'gummi bear' cartoon! But horrific wreck either way!
wv: poupled. This cake looks like a gummi bear poupled on the table
Oh...I recall reading about when the archaeologists found that thing in a cave in France. It's a fertility icon, right?
That cake looks sooo sad, especially since the cakes on either side of it don't look nearly as dismal as that poor bear(?)...
wv: mishan
The frustrated decorator, drunk, took a look at their creation and thought, "Ish shomethin mishan? NAAAH! Looksh fabulush!"
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaha i was rolling on the floor at work at 10am. imagine the stares
LOL! That was a HORRIBLE image to put up in the middle of a beloved childhood song!!!!
Um. Ummmm. Uuuummmm. Sorry, I've got nothin'.
My kids picked up this charmer at day care...
(sung to the tune of the ABC song)
A, B, C, E, F, G
Gummy Bears my enemy,
One is red, one is blue,
One is peeing on my shoe,
Now I'm running for my life,
'Cuz the green one's got a knife
Magic and mystery sure are a part of this thing's history.
Sweetlime says: I for one would like to thank you for filling in the rest of the words to the song that I have been singing to my co-workers for weeks now for weeks! It is a thing at my work.
I was getting very chipper dancing in my cubicle about to relive my childhood days when I scrolled down - chirp chirp is right - eek gawds!
It reminds me of an ancient art artifact. I studied several pieces that looked an awful (stress the swful) lot like this.
-Jodi
I was going to refrain myself from commenting-- but the WV is too easy to not pass it up...
WV: undelizz -- this is the most UNdelizz looking cake I've ever seen.
My question is why was it even on display??? Was there not room in the back cooler while they finished decorating it? Or was someone deliberately TRYING to get published on CW?
It looks like a naked mole rat!!
Hurray! I love that song (and the show) I was singing along and then *screeeech* saw the "cake." It's a sad day in Gummi Glen.
What in the heck is that even made of? And now I've got that stuck in my head... cheers!
Um. How does one get "Gummi Bear" from that miserable vomitous mass? All I see is a poo-colore, 3D ink blot.
you always manage to get the most random and irritating ear worms stuck in my head all day long. and that is one of the most wrek-tastic cakes ever!
Well... Magic and mystery is probably part of that thing's history anyway!
Ah - so nice of you to publish a child's art work. They expressed themselves with..... pooh. Ah, no, um. Mud? Hmmm... maybe not. Um, they expressed themselves..... with..... cake? Ah, well, anyway --- they EXPRESSED themselves. That's the important thing. Most eloquently, they created their own version of a ...... bear? Yeah. Ok.
OMG. My husband started sing me this song with weekend, and now it is on Cake Wrecks? What a coincidences.
Uh, yikes? o_O
No, no! It's artistic genius! the lack of color is... is... it represents...
The hollowness of the gummies?
http://arguingwithadoughnut.blogspot.com/
It's a penis cake, obviously, not a Gummi Bear cake. :)
(no, of COURSE it isn't, but it makes about as much sense to me)
When in the history of gummi bears has there been a putty-brown bear? And what is that foul looking smear on the plate BTW?
That is a most unfortunate cake, but I use to love that cartoon.
Gimme a W!
Gimme a T!
Gimme an F!
What does that spell?
Whatever that thing is! Yay!
'Poo Bear' indeed -- this artifact ought to be buried deep in the Hundred-Acre Wood. At midnight.
Jen- Love you so much. I tried to sing that song for my husband the other day, and he had never seen the cartoon, so he looked at me like my brain was made of gummi. Sunni and Grammy and the little one... ahh, childhood memories.
wv: catheek I think that baker tried to serve something the cat heeked up.
I loved that show and its theme song. Yay! (The cake wreck...not so much).
...uh...
As for the ohrwurm, I give you another: Life is like a hurricane/
Here in Duck - burg/
Race cars, lasers, aeroplanes/
It's a duck - blur!/
Might solve a mystery,/
Or rewrite history!
Ducktales! (a - whooh ooh)
Speaking of which, where ARE the Duck Tales cakes?
Due to my advanced age and lack of cultural exposure, lots of times I don't get your references, so I look them up.
I didn't find your gummy bear song, but I found this one. Check it out!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=astISOttCQ0
That's a song that will get stuck in your head, not to mention the cool dancing!
I think it might be the gopher from Caddy Shack
I used to say I liked chocolate in nearly any form... I've stopped now.
It looks like a gummy bear that has been buried in a tomb and has been covered with years and years of spider webs. I think I'll have nightmares about this tonight. Thanks.
*snort*
Oh, sorry. Grasshopper, you have gone beyond teachings.
Loving the references of various 'what is it' from the comment posters.
*sigh* Not only Gummi Bears, but now Duck Tales floating through my grey matter for the week. Thanks a lot. Yeah. Really.
btw - my favorite gummi bears are the clear ones. No color, no flavor, pure sugar.
~~Di
Hmmm, I watched Alien again last night, and this cake ( do we HAVE to call it a cake?) reminds me of some evil alien spawn.
Again I have to ask, "WHAT were they thinking" or perhaps, "what WERE they thinking" or even, what were they THINKING"????
Um. Ew?
That said, just what flavor IS a mauve gummi bear? No, wait, maybe I don't want to know.
Jen - I love you for this post. :) The gummi bear theme song definitely brought back fond memories! Thanks!
The full song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJmWyZlW2sE
Even Gummi Berri Juice wouldn't wash that taste out of your mouth...
Poor thing sorta looks like it's undergoing mitosis! ew..
I think I'm the only one that was disappointed to see that they weren't real gummy bears in that cartoon.
I preferred the Wuzzles anyways.
I love gummi bears. A food you can smush with your fingertips and it will slowly go back to its original shape. No other food does that (that I can think of anyway).
LOL I totally see the plastic explosive gopher from Caddyshack! “Great big gobs of greasy grimy gopher guts”
I don’t have that song in my head, but I do have Ferris Bueller’s Day Off when the girl says to Principal Rooney “Gummi bear? It's been in my pocket; they're real warm and soft.” Maybe this was it?
wv: witiv – Witiv we pretend you didn’t show us this cake?
Hey, I just heard on the news today that you can now get gummi bears laced with LSD. Scary.
WV: I chaysid my blues away with new LSD gummi bears.
Did that gummi bear fall into a mud pit?
@mimi You know, The Disney Afternoon should be revived so The Adventures of the Chocolate Goo would gross us out!
WV - chesseme
I got cheesed already not only because this year marks the 20th anniversary of The Disney Afternoon, where The Adventures of the (Real) Gummi Bears were featured, even if they were made 5 years before that block we 90's kids remembered watching.
My son just walked by the computer and asked, "what is that? a turd?"
Thought at first it was gonna be "El Paso" by Marty Robbins..which really made me wonder WTF the Wreck was supposed to be...
I second Katja... That really is unfortunate. The poor cake. The poor person who ordered the cake. Oh, the poor world of cakedom.
wv - noutani: "How much of this cake would you like" "Noutani, thank you. It looks like something my dog horked up last night."
Looks like something that, due to some horrible malformation, didn't make it past the fetal stage before it was...um...expelled.
Ok, I already had that song stuck in my head this morning. It's like you're reading my mind! Stop it!
How weird, though, that you blogged about the children's tv theme song that I've been humming this morning.
Looks more like a kitty to me. That cake is truly a Rorschach test!
That one terrible looking cake. I can admit that at least it looks like it might be roughly the right shape and may have been improved if the decorator added icing details.
It is done? It looks like someone should do something to finish it like clothe it or put a face on it. Ugh!
Don't ask me why, but for some reason I read that to the tune of "These Are a Few of My Favorite Things."
Are you sure that thing isn't some horrible flesh eating monster that grew out of the toxic waste stored beneath the floorboards, and it just acidently surface during a bake sale?
HAHA I had this song in my head on Thursday. My student worker wanted gummy bears out of the vending machine, so I found the song on YouTube and made him listen to it.
Ha! I loved the Gummy Bears show!! Children of the 80's.... UNITE!!
The song took me back to joyful days of bounding off the school bus to catch the beginning of Gummy Bears, and wondering just exactly what gummy berry juice tastes like...
and then that cake ripped my heart out through my belly.
Damn!
Technically, Play-Doh *is* edible. About as appetizing as this..."cake".
It looks more like Silly Putty, though, maybe even plumber's putty.
Wreckerator had a previous job at
(a) Toys 'R' Us
(b) The Home Depot
(c) pottery shop
(d) other
To those that are old enough to remember...it looks more like a much used fuzzy wuzzy bathsoap. (He definately was't very fuzzy was he?) karen
looks like stillborn bear or science experiment bear
Must've been a really bad batch of Gummiberry juice!
ROTFLOL - I was totally singing the Gummi Bears song right out loud, cheerfully earning myself a cross look from the hubs, when I scrolled down and . . . well THAT happened. Fortunately I read the comments, so now I have "Ducktales" with which to amuse myself. Yay
Might I recommend a "Gummy Bear Cocktail" to go along with it?
I actually invented this in honour of my father when he died. I am sure he would have appreciated the scientific principal being employed with it and been suitably grossed out but the entire concept... It was perfect. I could imagine him going "bleacccchhhh" but drinking it because I made it.
Gummy Bear Cocktail
4-5 Gummy Bears (more or less, as desired)
1 beer, in a glass (more or less, as desired)
Pour the beer and drop the Gummy Bears in.
Just like the classic "ginger-ale and raisins" science experiment, the bears will rise and fall within the beer as the carbon dioxide bubbles form and break on the surface of the bears.
And it doesn't taste gross because the bears don't actually impart any flavour to the beer.
Umm does that thing look like an alien ate it's face to you? It did to me and boy with the song and that..shudder.. thing staring at me I now will be up for days drinking coffee and wishing I could find the wreckerator lol. Two songs came to mind and My Favorite Things seems to be winning..help me.. lol
You're scaring the children, Jen.
Did you see the Steampunk wedding cake by Christopher Garren's Let Them Eat Cake? It was on "Amazing Wedding Cakes" on WeTV. It was phenomenal... epic, even!! I tried to find a photo, but couldn't. I did find their FB page, though, and they have Steampunk doors for their new addition to their shop. You have to check it out!
I miss watching the Disney channel when Gummi Bears, Duck Tales, and Tale Spin were shown one right after the other. D;
Good grief! Oh Dear! Dear Lordy! That is a coke cummy bear gone bad.
Maybe some Gummy Berry Juice will help this cake?
.....Doubtful.
But now my day will be plagued with the song.
I think the person who suggested the C-4 gopher is absolutely right. It had to have been a special order, and the wreckerator got it just right.
In any other case, the cake matched my WV: glyched.
It looks like some sort of alien egg-sack that's about to burst; and whatever climbs out of it is about to start biting holes in our skulls and sucking out the contents.
OMG, that cake just shouldn't exist, or be out in public for a crowd to see. I haven't heard the theme song for Gummy Bears since I was a kid. I used to watch that cartoon all the time.
@Sam Gamgee
Nice Princess Bride reference... another 80s classic :)
Daaaaaaaang yooooouuuuu!! *hums the song endlessly* What a song to have stuck in my head when I start work in an hour.
.... I remember all the words, too. Kinda scary.
But no, that is not a gummy bear. That is.... I can't even think of anything to describe that.
Ed Hardy Jeans,it is very popular.
Whyyyyy would one do the only thing you could possibly to do to ruin an otherwise nicely-shaped gummi bear, and frost it in the least appetizing colour on the planet??
Re: the "B.A.D. Day" post on Epbot -- this one definitely helped me out today. Thanks. The comic timing was awesome.
...maybe it's a headless Venus of Willendorf?
Yeeeah, I got nothing.
I actually have that cake mold. I, too, made a brown bear, but with the appropriate finishing decorations it can actually look like a teddy bear. I never noticed the gummi bear resemblance until you pointed it out. =)
This was awesome because I got really, really into the song as I was reading it. And when it got to "GUMMY BEARS!" I was totally pumped, and then...just...disappointed. You did a good job here. It made me happy. (Also, I know that song in Swedish. I don't speak a word of Swedish, but I can sing the Gummibears theme in it.)
I guess the brown gummy bear went the way of the tan M&M. They were too poo-rific.
Because of this post, I looked up the song and had it stuck in my head all day... thank you.
OMG is that a giant chocolate covered gummy bear? Because, as disgusting as that looks, chocolate covered gummy bears are seriously one of the yummiest candies on the planet!
