Cake Wrecks Turns One!

Wednesday, May 20, 2009

I know you're still reeling from the heady celebration of my own birthday, but now we have another excuse to wreck some cakes, sing songs, and get sloshed on sprinkles:

Today is the one year anniversary of Cake Wrecks!

Let the rejoicing...[dramatic pause]...begin.

Yep, one year ago today I was thinking, "Hey, this might be a fun diversion for a few weeks. Thank goodness for the anonymity of the internet! No one will ever know."

Yeeeeaaahh.

Still, to all of you who have become faithful readers, loyal fans, and virtual friends*, thank you. You've helped make this the most exciting year of my life, and I am forever grateful.

And to you persnickety trolls who continue to inform me, in many and colorful ways, just how vast the suckage quotient of this blog is: May you someday start a blog and moderate your own trollish comments. (Harsh, yes, but it's got to be said.)

Also, a quick reminder: although the retail price of my book Cake Wrecks is $12.99, there are some fantastic discounts to be had if you pre-order it online now. It's currently available at Barnes & Noble, Borders, and Amazon.

Thanks, guys, and Wreck on!

- Jen

(*I mean that in a good way.)

Happy Anniversary Cake Wrecks!

did you look at the Amazon page? Evidently people who buy your book buy it with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, if thats not great company I don't know what is!

I can't believe how many days a week I look at the clock and think, "Oh! It's 9:15! Cake Wrecks might be up!"

Some people might say I need a life. I say I need a laugh. Keep up the good work. Ignore the trolls. (Except those cute plastic ones with stick-up hair.)

I'm going to order your book from my local bookseller...she's the best!

Jen-will you tour and do a book signing? If so, please visit the Book Cellar in Chicago -- a very cool wine bar/bookstore. The events are fab + I'd love to see you there! Sign my book!

Happy Birthday, Blog!

I haven't been here from the beginning, but have been following along silently for months. Once, my mom came over and we read the whole blog, and laughed ourselves to asthma attacks. Awesome.

God, that firefighter cake...that was golden.

Good girl - love it and the cakes and the comments! Way to brighten the day!

I really enjoy your posts and check every day that I can. It's a great diversion and I love your sense of humor.

Congratulations!

I just can't imagine why anyone would say anything remotely trollish regarding this blog. Even as a former cake decorator I love it. I made my share of wrecks while learning. You got to have a sense of humor! Happy one year! :)

Seriously, you have trolls?? I discovered this blog a few days ago and almost gave myself an aneurysm laughing so hard and trying to suppress it in my office. I'm addicted and brings a smile everyday. Thanks for doing it!

Happy Birthday! Since it's your 1st, do you get a mini cake that you can eat all by your self, and smash it all over your face like other 1-year-olds get to do???

It happened several months ago when a friend sent me a link to a picture of a funny cake. Underneath that cake was even funnier commentary regarding the ridiculousness of pictured cake.
I hit add to favorites and I've been laughing ever since.
I swear it's like I'm reading my own words with the Trek, Stargate and Ghostbusters references sprinkled throughout your blog.
I've got six words to describe how I feel every time I click on my favorite link...
LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT.
Okay technically that's 2 words repeated over and over again, but I think you catch my drift.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY CAKE WRECKS!!

HAPPY BLOGOVERSARY!

I only have one rule when reading your blog: don't be drinking "anything." (Superfluous quotation marks in your honour).

I wish you continued SUCCESS and all the BEST, :-) Hali

P.S. Blogtrolls are everywhere. I say, LET THEM EAT CAKE. Hahahaha

Dear Jen,
I love Cake Wrecks and I am sure the book will be great. I clicked on the link to Amazon, and was puzzled by the "buy these books together" suggestion. It says that people who buy Cake Wrecks would also be interested in Pride and Prejudice Zombie Classic Edition!?!

Happy annibirthdayversary! I can't believe that I've been stumbling for years and only last month I came across your blog. I stayed up all night reading the entirety of your blog, snickering and convulsing as I looked and thought and then saw that you anticipated my thoughts and burst into hysterics at your comments. As an ex pastry chef, I can only hope that nothing I did ever turns up here. You make me laugh, you make me smile. You make my life better just by posting. Thank you so much.

Happy first birthday Cakewrecks! Hope there are many more. God knows there are many people like me out there who suck at cake making. Some of us don't make cakes because we know we suck, and others don't realise it and keep on baking their sucky goodness. But I'm sure at the end of the day they all taste the same :D

Happy one year anniversary! :D

This blog is amazing, and I am so so glad that you started it :D

As a side note .. I kinda understand how some people can make horrible wrecks now!! I just started decorating cakes at Dairy Queen, where I work, and it's pretty hard! I haven't had any professional training, though - and I've only decorated them about three times so far - so I like to think of myself as exempt ;) haha.

You are one of the few people I love this much, but whom I've never met. I wish you would publish the mean wrecked comments w/ editing so we could enjoy them too along with the cake wrecks... oh well. Husband loves you too :) Happy Birthday!

I am a lurker who never ever comments, but I had to come out of the shadows today and just say I read your blog all the time and it's the guilty pleasure of my days! Thank you! Happy Anniversary.

I thought you might like to know that on Amazon people who buy your book also buy, "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: The Classic Regency Romance - Now with Ultraviolent Zombie Mayhem!"

I'm not sure what the connection is, but it's slightly creepy.

Happy Birthday- I can count on Cake Wrecks to make me laugh until I cry...why? Hard to say. Is it the cakes, the commentary or a combination, but it keeps me sane at times!
