What's the Big Deal?

OMG, it's Black Friday! And you know what that means, right?!?

Leftovers?

Well, yes. But more importantly - leftovers that are ON SALE!!!!!!

That's right, today everything is on sale! EVERYTHING MUST GO!! So let no dilly-dallying grandma with a slow sprint and a bum hip get between you and the DEAL OF A LIFETIME.

Of course, *I* finished my shopping weeks ago by shopping online. I got some great deals, too! Like this Nintendo Wii:

I'm sure that dent will buff right out.

Yep, the refurbished AS-IS models are always on clearance:

They even threw in the deluxe 3-inch controller cables for free!

I also saved a ton of money by shopping directly from vendors on the street:

Who knew "Louise Vitton" could be so affordable?

I even found a cozy little warehouse down by the docks just brimming with name brand electronics:

I scored this limited edition "2009" iPod for a song. So portable!

And I got something just for me: a brand new smart phone!

Once I erase all the demo information on this guy "Jeff," I'll be good to go!

Of course, if you're not as prepared as I am, you could brave the crowds and head out for some full-contact shopping today. But remember: stay respectful and relaxed! After all, there are enough deals to go 'round for everyo...

Move it, lady! I saw that Dora doll first!!

I'm serious, woman. Hand over "Birthday BBQ Dora" or soy es punches en la grande gorditas!

Ahem.

Or, you could visit any book retailer's website and order a bunch of Cake Wrecks hardcover, 75%-new-content gift books and 2011 calendars - available in two convenient sizes - and finish all your shopping in one fell swoop. Voila! Shopping done.

Hey, I'm just here to help, Derek L., Denise T., Anna, Carin P., Luci B., and Amanda L. (You're welcome.)

  2. Is it just me, or does the Dora cake look more like E.T. in drag?

  3. Whoa!

    BBQ Dora did me in.

So much for no more morning sickness.

  5. I can now rest easy in my decision to STAY HOME TODAY.

And read funny blogs online. :)

  6. Your Wii looks better than the "XBox" at my cousin's wedding that was supposed to be a groom's cake.

Mercifully, they cut it and then it tasted much better than it looked.

  7. The PS2 controllers look like upside down N64 controllers.

  8. What exactly is Dora made of?

  9. A bacon-flavored Dora! Awesome!

  10. Personally, I'll be out to snag a few cakes-shaped-like-turkeys and a tornado-swirl-cornucopia-spewing-nuts-cake. Bet they are a steal today!

  11. That's not Dora doll! It's a Dora pinata! I'll be it's full of Gorditas! PS, the translation is hysterical! =)

  12. I work in retail, and I didn't sleep well last night knowing I was going to have to deal with Black Friday shoppers! Maybeee...if I bring cake, they won't kill me!!

  13. Does that Dora REALLY have arms made of cooked sausages?

  14. You'll be happy to know that I ordered 3 copies of your book and one calendar for various family members for Christmas! Easiest shopping I've ever done!

  15. Heh. Also, the letters on the number keys on the "smart phone" are wrong too. For 7, it's supposed to be PQRS and for 8, TUV. I guess they really hate Vs...?

  16. The PS2 cake has N64 controllers!! LMAO

  17. I like how the phone is inexplicably missing a V.

  18. I may have a mind like a sewer, but where is Dora trying to shove that cake?

  19. That Dora cake is horrifying. I don't even remember the other cakes after seeing that poor, burned looking, melted, made of meat Dora and her misshapen head. If I presented that thing to my kid, I think she'd cry. And then maybe hit me.

  22. "Class of 2009" - ???? How old is that cake? Where have they been hiding/keeping it?

  23. *snickering @ Danger Boy*

Does anyone remember the Furby craze? Or the Tickle Me Elmo craze?

*shudder* I love you, Amazon Prime.

  24. Calendars? For real??? Awesome! All my Christmas shopping done, all in one place. Yay!

  25. Someone else already pointed out that Dora is probably a pinata, but the little cake she is holding is nice. I'm guessing it was a small party because that's a pretty small cake! What would be really cool for a teen party is to give everyone their own iPhone cake that is the size of a real iPhone. Actually, I guess it would be more like a cookie. Of course, you have to follow through and actually get the birthday boy/girl a real iPhone or there would really be some trouble!

  26. WTF?! That's all I can say

  27. Wish that Dora cake was a pinata so I could grab a big stick and take savage delight in whacking it beyond recognition.... I don't have a problem with the winsome Dora, but this version of our gal explorer must be destroyed!

PS. The iPod yellow cake is alright. The icing isn't vulgarly dark or luridly bright, and the overall execution is understated. It's those wreckerators who let their inner art school demon run amok, that cause the most presentation damage.

  28. Jen and John (et all), check out this song by Luke Ski about Black Friday (it even mentions Dora!) http://www.thefump.com/fump.php?id=1112

  29. Aww Jen hate to tell you but instead of a Wii you bought yourself the infamous sideways toaster. Now you can hit just about anyone with your breakfast toast or poptart. Lol those are just priceless!!!

  30. The Dora 'cake' appears to be a pinata -- from the Spanish for 'Epcot' -- complete with a hat that shows what it was supposed to look like. Clever. Perhaps it is full of cake, a concept that redefines 'messy' and earns anyone who tries it the undying gratitude of the ant community.

Shazbat! Several other comment-taters already noticed the N64 controllers on the PS2.

Speaking of Nintendo, they should put a slot in the top of the Wii so that people can have toast while they're playing. (I've always thought the Wii looks like a toaster.)

  31. Meatloaf baby grew up to be bbq Dora!

At least the Vitton roses are nice. (Why are the flowers often the best thing about a Wreck???)

  32. wow.. whats that.. wkwkkw.... :D

  33. That Dora cake is creepy *shudders*

  34. Proud to say I have a Cakewrecks 2011 calendar! Found it at Barnes and Noble and HAD to get it.

  35. These people create cakes for enjoyment. Not all cakes should look perfect! They did their best is what counts the most. You think their ugly but think about a child or a person that loved it in the end.
