Dress a Wreck

Are you ready to be your own Wreckerator, only without all the mess and soul-eating shame? Then you are going to *LOVE* this fun little Wrecks game, created by loyal Wreckie henchperson J Rose.

So grab the kids, significant others, and/or cubicle mates, and get ready to start cranking out your very own Wrecks! Then print them out and decorate the fridge. Because, no, you are NOT too old for that.

Many "thanks" to J Rose, whose artistic genius is surpassed only by her impeccable taste in blogs.

  1. Fun! now I'm going to use every one of those decorations and make the wreckiest cake ever!

  2. What fun!

Sadly, anything I can do with this game would still look better than the mess I'd make with real icing.

  3. I *LOVE* this!!

Is it wrong that when I saw the font used for the alpha/numeric characters the first thing I wanted to write was, "Suck it, Trebek"?

Also, I wish there was a way to share my "creations" with friends...

  4. Virtual cake and more wrecks!!!!!!!!!!! Winnah :)

  5. So much awesomeness!

@Ellen: it's okay to make a mess with real icing when you're having fun at home, especially with your family. You just don't sell it, that's all. :)

Experiment with cake, have fun, make a wreck, then eat the evidence! Nom nom nom!

  13. Excellent!

Time for a lesson on how to share your creation in Windows:

    1. Click and keys at same time.
    2. Click in lower left corner, then , then , then
    3. Click inside the white box
    4. Click in upper left corner, then
    5. Click in upper left corner, then , then
    6. Type in the name of your creation
    7. Click

Your creation is now saved (probably in My Pictures) and can be shared with the world just like a photograph.

That concludes our computer class for today.

  17. What does it say about me that the first cake I made was completely obscene?

    FUN!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Lots of fun, and I could see this becoming a real game -- maybe a card game where you have to collect/swap "parts" to make a cake(wreck)!

  21. Carrot Fight

"There was peace in the little valley, where the moose frolicked among the trees and babies with their llamas freely roamed the land. But, all that changed as the carrot jockies descended their pink stairways to rain doom upon them all...and also sprinkles."

On a game dev note, at first I was bummed that you only get 1 of every letter, so you can't repeat an r for the word "carrot"...but then I realized that having to omit or substitute letters is half the wrecky goodness.

  22. I WANT SPRINKLES!!! I can't get the sprinkles to move. Other stuff, yes, but not sprinkles! NO FAIR!!!

  23. J Rose is Awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  24. You have to grab the sprinkles in just the right spot.

    It needs more sprinkles, though.

This was awesome! I've got the carrot jockeys on the stairs and the moose pooping... not enough poop swirls... love this! really should be a game...

  27. Bwaahahahaa! I wanted the baby to ride the moose thing, but the baby shows up behind it. Then I realized the moose could ride the baby, and it was so much better. Thanks! Lol!

  28. ...is that an alpaca? It just so happens I used to be a professional alpaca-sitter. i want a real alpaca cake.

  29. how cakewreckorically poetic that you must figure out how to spell your wreckie message using each letter only once!

how very frustrating that I cant seemed to get the sprinkles to drag onto my cake....

    ReplyDelete
  30. Aww, J Rose is awesome! Thanks for sharing your talent here. That was fun!

    ReplyDelete
  31. For those people having trouble moving the sprinkles, I know, I tried really hard to make them movable! I added the giant white sprinkle in the bottom left corner as a handle to get them to move more easily.

This is my second drag-and-drop game ever. I'll do better next time!

And thanks for the love for the parts that work how I wanted them to! =D

  32. Cake Wrecks: The Board Game!
Just needs some cupcakes and big chocolate chip cookies! Carrot Jockeys that face either direction! Crazy sprinkles! Scary icing roses!
Cardboard cakes, static sticker decorations! Add a timer and you're set!

  34. SUCH fun!

I adore my King Carrot-Jockey baby, whose crown is exploding a la Miss United States in "Miss Congeniality."

    More, please!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Dang. I wanted more poo for my cake. :(

    ReplyDelete
  36. This is wonderful. I made a world-class wreck on my first try even though I ran out of Naked Mohawk Baby Carrot Jockeys very quickly. Thanks for creating it.

(A couple of extra alphabets, preferably in colors that clash with the pink, would be helpful in misspelling words with repeat letters.)

    ReplyDelete
  37. @ JRose: Thank you for the sprinkles tip - knowing about the "handle" sprinkle made my life much easier!

. . . although my "I want sprinkles cake" was still much too tasteful - must go and try again!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Is there anyone who can give me easy directions on how to save my cake (think 5 year old computer comprehension...) I couldn't get Tricia's directions to work...

    ReplyDelete
  39. @Kimberly - oh, I know. I've made some wrecky things in the past, and am happy that nobody is expected to pay for them!

My family is mostly from the "as long as it tastes good" school of thought, so nobody's disappointed.

  40. Fun! Mine is the worst wreck you have ever seen...

    ReplyDelete
  41. This is brilliant. For the next upgrade, may I suggest the ability to upload an image of your wreck to Facebook and other social media sites, just so everyone can see how retarded you are.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I was making the worst cake I could possible imagine when my 4 year old walked up and said, "Mommy, it needs more sprinkles."
    WINNING.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I wish there was an option to share my creation on my blog. You can never have too many babies flying on carrots.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Thanks so much for this! It's awesome and so much fun!
    :D

I'm definitely creating some wrecks of my own that I'll save (via the Snipping Tool on my PC) that I'll share with friends and family on their special occasions. :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. DAng it. My wreck is a wreck... no matter what I do, it STILL turns out pretty (er than any of the blogged wrecks in the past)

    SO funny...

And so unfair... It won't let me put on the sprinkles. I WANT SPRINKLES!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I made myself my very own "YOTH" cake! I'm so excited!

  47. This is great fun, thank you! I made a delicious creation with sunflowers, the trees and reindeer, and the fountain shooting from the top! Clearly, I have the heart of a true Wreckinator.

  49. Great fun! Thanks for sharing with us frustrated Wreckers!

  50. Sweet! Thanks so much J. Rose! Imagine the possibilities...like a cake that says "I want sprinkles" on one tier and "'Good luck'" on another...

  51. Way to go, J Rose!

This could be a cool online game -- people could take turns being the wreckerator, while messages from 'customers' are randomly garbled to simulate the order-taking process. (Bonus points for messages that are factually questionable, because most people see humor in that stuff.)

Note: such wrecky elements as 'balloons', fondant cracks and indecipherable script can be added freehand to a screen capture in Paint or other drawing program.

I was kind of offended that there are no beads and no way to know whether the cake is baked or deep-fried, but I got over it before I finished typing this sentence.

  56. Now, this is effing AMAZING! I'm not even gonna go to work today. :-p AWESOME job!

  59. For some reason, your program deleted the keys to press for saving the screen shots (see 10:32am). Apparently it doesn't like the less-than and greater-than symbols. Let's try again:

    1. Click Fn and Prnt Screen keys at same time.
    2. Click Start in lower left corner, then All Programs, then Accessories, then Paint
    3. Click inside the white box
    4. Click Edit in upper left corner, then Paste
    5. Click File, then Save As, then JPG
    6. Enter a file name, then click Save.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Feedback to the artist: The sprinkles would be easier to use if you brush a transparent layer behind it in the group or "clickable" zone.
